Make London Your International Home from Home

by Stephen Morgan

It is said by some that we live in a global equivalent of a goldfish bowl and international travel has made getting from one city to another easier almost by the hour. The downside of this type of lifestyle is how we look after ourselves and where we stay whilst constantly indulging in this constant never ending round of globetrotting.

The obvious answer to all of our needs would appear to be in the constant improvement in Hotel Accommodation that caters for our every whim and desire. Certainly things have improved on that front over the past twenty years as hotels have learned to cater for an ever increasing diversity of visitor.

But what about those who get bored of the standard hotels or those who find themselves staying slightly longer than the norm, what options are there?

Well funnily enough there is a growing supply and demand for the type of crossover accommodation that is definitely not home but also most definitely is not a hotel. In fact this type of new short term property rental is branded as very much “Your Home from Home”.

For those of us who appreciate a little bit of extra freedom and flexibility on their travels this sort of package is ideal. As one particular supplier of this type of package says on their web site:

“Chill out, put your feet up and relax in your own space. Get up when you want, eat when you want, entertain if you like or have a board meeting; you can do it all!”

And this really encapsulates the entire concept, it’s your choice to do what you want when you want and more importantly with whom you want.

As someone who in a former life spent a lot of time travelling around several different continents as a musician, I for one truly appreciate this type of concept. Hotels are OK and the experience is novel for a few days etc but the novelty does wear off after a while and there is only so much Room Service you can take.

There comes a time when you want to be able to get something without having to constantly search round your room to make sure you have enough change for the tip. I say this not as a statement of someone who begrudges paying for service and the concept of tipping but as someone who gets fed up of having to pay tips for bad service.

If you have to be in any major city for more than a few weeks but not long enough to have to buy permanent accommodation then short term rents or some sort of vacation apartment is ideal.

Hey also in the right circumstances and location it makes us feel as if we are part of the International Jet Set.

Now to some that is a big selling point.
