How To Frontside Bluntslide

by Arisean Miller

Front side blunt slides are a very difficult trick to learn and should only be attempted by experienced skaters or skaters that have been skating for awhile. Front side blunt slides or front blunts are performed by a skater sliding the tail edge of the deck and the wheels that are placed on top of your obstacle, across the obstacle till the end where you release the pressure from your tail and come off the obstacle.

This trick requires a lot of balance and board control which should have been obtained by skateboarding for quite some time. A couple of tricks you should know before your get started are front side 5-0 grinds and front side salad grinds which basically involve the the tail and back truck. The goal of this trick is too put your wheels on top of obstacle while sliding to the end of the obstacle all while balancing your weight on the back tail and truck.

The first thing you need to do is get your feet positioning correct. Your back foot should be in a regular ollie position and your front foot should be right below the front bolts and at a slight angle. Not as much of an angle as a kick flip but not to little where you are not able to ollie 90 degrees.

Begin rolling up to the obstacle almost parallel at a comfortable speed for you. You don't need to go that fast because the obstacle should be waxed and will make it very easy to slide once you get the hang of this trick. Once your close to the object you can begin your pop, you want to pop a 90 degree ollie and aim for your wheels to land on the top of the obstacle. Now this will take some getting used too and a lot of practice for you too get the hang of ollieing into this trick and holding it but once you learn that the hard part is over.

Once you get into the blunt you want to hold the slide all the way to the end of the obstacle. This is where the control and balance take effect maintaining this trick will get easier and look a lot better the longer you hold it. Now to come off you will need to take your weight off the tail and twist your shoulders back to get off the obstacle and ride away clean.

This trick takes a lot of practice and will not happen overnight. Once you start to learn this and get better at them you can begin doing tricks in and out of them. The best prize of all is you get to impress your friends with this nifty little trick.
