Cognitive Restructuring is More Successful than Drug Rehab Programs
Many Drug rehab programs are unsuccessful since their curriculum is weak. A drug addicts cells are saturated with the DNA of every drug theyve taken. They become completely addicted: physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Each human being has a physical and the ego self. Beginning at birth theres a never-ending struggle between human nature and its wants. Those who have a weak ego have little self-control. They easily give into addictions. They often waste their life pursuing their deep cravings and end up sucked into the swamp of hopelessness and depression. They remain captive and worship the chemical of their choice.
In order to release yourself from the shackles of their bad decisions, requires that light and hope enter the ego self. Escaping their self-imposed prison requires outside strength and encouragement. As long as the ego stays feeble, lost, confused and deceived, sobriety will never be obtained.
The first thing that needs to be done in order to obtain sobriety is to gain a deep desire and an acute self-awareness. Denial and pride are huge stumbling blocks that restrain the addicted from leaving their prison. Becoming humble and having a willingness to abstain from your drug takes gut wrenching power that some addicts cannot summon up, especially all alone.
The one counseling tool that works best to help addicts overcome is cognitive restructuring. Cognitive restructuring helps the addicted overcome their thinking errors and self defeating behaviors. If this primary step is not taken, complete success will never be achieved.
