Review Roman Reference, Via Foscolo, ref#300www.romanreference.com Recommended. 1bed/1bath apartment near Santa Maria Maggiore, Rome -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LocationThe apartment is located near Piazza Vittorio and Santa Maria Maggiore church in the center of Rome. We were kind of dubious when we booked since we'd heard bad things about Termini area and this is not so far from there. We shouldn't have, it's very cosmopolitan here, certainly not a 'rich area', but - my wife is nodding on my side - unlike what we were afraid of, it's very safe. Some extra attention is required in the metro and near the Colosseum. All things considered, the value for money in particular, we really liked this area and we'd likely be back here in Rome and ask to be located in this area again.Nearby AmenitiesMetro is only a few blocks away, very well connected also by trams and buses. There is a huge (cheap!) market just a couple of blocks away (mercato di piazza vittorio), gardens of colle oppio are only 5 minutes walk, café with tables outside where we'd have breakfast sometimes right in the middle of it. While sipping coffee you watch the Colosseum (only 5 more minutes walk). Groceries are everywhere. There is a supermarket. I've counted some 20 restaurants within 5 minutes walk, only two Italians restaurants though! Mostly Indian and Chinese. The House/ApartmentThe apartment is small but functional. It has all optionals to make you feel at home, tv/vcr, stereo, washing machine (you can hang clothes on the common terrace at the top of the building, it dries anything in one hour, at least this part of the year). It has ceiling fan and an extra fan, no air conditioning, but we did not suffer the heat. It's quiet. Only drawback - the bathroom a little too small and a little too dark for my taste (sun gets right to the window only between noon and 2pm). But, hey, for 350 euro a week we certainly can't complain!GardenNo. As I mentioned the terrace at the top of the building can be used to hang your wet clothes and little more.Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasFurniture basic but functional, all in working order.Bedrooms/BathroomsBathroom a little too small, but okay. It needs a curtain to better separate shower from the rest. The double bed is on the loft. We found it cozy and slept very well for the past month.KitchenThe kitchen is on the right end corner of the apartment. It's well equipped and functional. Gas stove and oven, washing machine, a window.Problems or BonusesWe are very satisfied, really. The area is much better then what we thought, the apartment is functional and is a deal! We got a substantial break because of the extended stay and ended up paying 40 euro a night, which is precious little by Roman standards.Agency and Representatives (and price)Agency gave us a good service. Internet response at time of booking was quick and professional, English speakers (mother tongue, I guess). We met Enzo onsite to let us in, he was very helpful and nice. During our stay we needed help with the water heater and he was here in a minute and helped us out.Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Absolutely!
