A small village with a long historical past named Kewstoke is located next to Sand Bay, some three miles from Weston Super Mare. All of the local affairs are being conducted by a local parish council which has its seat in this village. By the local authorities Act from 1992, the Kewstoke is under the authority of the North Somerset County.

The village was in the Woodspring district between 1974 and 1996, before then it had been in the Abridge Rural District. It's represented in the parliament as part of Weston Super Mare. It is also part of the European parliament through the South West England Constituency. The population of the village number about 1700 and this makes up about 2% of the inhabitants in North Somerset.

Kewstoke has served as a tourist attraction and vacation spot for a lot of years. Great views and specific geological features, Woodspring priory has stunning scenery overlooking the Severn estuary which is the principle attraction for a lot of tourists. There are also walks around the woods on the south of the Bay at Sand point and also Middle hope to the north. The beach is understood to have many varieties of uncommon birds resident at instances in the course of the year, there are a few sand dunes to the south of the bay and a salt marsh to the north.

Visitors to the village can discover lodging in one of the village hotels, guest homes or caravan parks. Some of the most prominent amenities are: the Hazelwood Caravan Park, the Country View Caravan Park, the Home Park Cl, the Owl's Crest Hotel and the Rose Tree Caravan Park. Parking with the capacity of round one hundred cars is available at the seafront. The public transportation to Weston Super Mare is organized on hourly basis throughout winter and every half an hour during the summer season season.

One attention-grabbing landmark of the region is the Monks's steps also called the St.Kews steps. This is the ancient set of stones leading from St. Paul's church to the Worlebury Hill Camp. Kewstoke has a local parish church built in 1195, around the 12th century. St Paul's church tower is historically building and is one of the points of interest in the region.

A reliquary was discovered within the church in 1849 and it was believed to have come from the priory and was thought to contain blood of Thomas Beckets (the murdered Archbishop). It was believed that this reliquary was delivered to this parish for safekeeping at a time when monasteries were being dissolved. Near the village there's the Woodspring priory founded by William de Courtenay in 1210. One of the most recent discoveries that is interesting is a vase with A&S encryption and it's believed that the encryption might refer on the Artkinsall and son 1904-24.

The village has a pre-school that is run at the village hall and a primary school that's attended by youngsters aged between three and 5. The village can be a house to the Kewstoke JFC football club.

There are beauty salons, sound recording studios and a village grocery store which sells a wide range of perishable goods. The village hall was built in 1987 from an area funding assisted by the Woodspring council. Land was bought with the aim of offering a village hall for the residents. The amenities supplied through this endeavour are: the main hall, kitchen, toilets and showers for the players using the hall playing field.

There are always activities occurring within the village and particularly the village hall, some of them international. Most of those events are held at the village hall that's located in the Crookes lane although there is a second much older and small village hall adjacent to the church. Also, there's a youth club which holds their meetings in this hall and they are always open for brand new members.

The village hall also has its own bowling club. Inter-club matches are held and at times the club takes part in leagues both locally and international. Concerning their achievements, the club has gained the Bristol's District cup in 1997 and the following year they ended the competitors as the runner ups.

Since the Kewstoke is only a few metres above the sea level, this makes this area pretty prone to flooding. To keep the homes safe, most of them are built on a slope of the hill.

In December 1981 villagers were devastated by heavy floods. In 1990, defence walls which had been put up where strengthened and now look natural as if they are a part of the landscape. The defence walls have proven to be very effective. The Sand Bay management is answerable for maintaining a tally of the erosive occurrences on the beaches.
