Cartoon Animation
Animation refers to the activity or process of moving diagrams or cartoons made up of a sequence of images displayed one after the other. Gifs and Flash are the two most popular animation formats used on the Web.Cartoon animation is a motion picture or television film consisting of a photographed series of drawings, objects, or computer graphics that simulates motion by recording slight, continuous changes in the image frame by frame. It generally features some kind of a story or a plot. Animation has been born almost a century back. It’s an amazing form of art and at times may be so complicated that it may take more time than creating a film.Computerization has helped to reduce the cost and labour of animation. There are different types of animation in use including traditional animation, computer animation and stop-motion animation. The most popular form of animation is drawn on cells and is 2-D. We also have 3-D animation.In case of traditional animation each frame will be painted and then filmed. It is the one of eth oldest form of animation where each frame is drawn by hand. Computer animation consists of modeling, motion generation, followed by the addition of surfaces and finally rendering.The use of computers has given a new approach to animation. Computer generated graphics are often used in movies such as Jurassic park and Star Wars Trilogy. Both the movies made use of CGI (Computer Generated Imaging).Flash and animated GIF found on the Internet generally make use of 2D animation. 3D animation gives the view of an object from all angles and positions.Stop motion animation involves movement of static objects. Each frame is created and photographed independently.The first animated cartoons where black- and- white and where silent. Felix the Cat is an example. There are different genres of animated cartoons. From early 1900’s to 1940’s the animated cartoons depicted funny animals in various adventures. It formed the backbone of Disney’s series of cartoons. Zany is a form of animated cartoons introduced by Warner Brothers which involved acts such as being characters being crushed by massive boulders or going over the edge of a cliff but floating in mid air for few seconds.During the 1950s and 1960s the design of the characters became more angular, while the quality of the character animation declined. In the late 20th century Anime and Hentai became very popular among adults.
