by Gail Leino

For parties held at home and cannot be taken to a the Zoo, then why not bring the zoo to the party. Create a fun zoo-like location with decorations, party supplies, tasty, and healthy food and drinks.

Zoo Invitations: Create zoo party invitations with the use of fun and cute animal images. Greetings on the zoo party invitations include Party At The Zoo!, Have Some Wild Fun At (insert name) Zoo Party, Celebrate With The Lions, Tigers, and Bears At (insert name) Zoo Theme Party.

Zoo Party Supplies & Decorations: Place many posters and photos of animals around the party area. Decorate the party area with green, orange, and blue tableware items along with other party supplies.

Create a Zoo: Create an entrance banner with construction paper, card stock and poster board, using various animal pictures that show popular zoo creatures such as a giraffe, tiger, elephant, and hippo. Place the pictures (cartoon or real) on poster board. Paste the pictures on with glue or tape. Cut out the letters for the Zoo with card stock or constriction paper and apply to the top section of the poster board. Once glued or taped on, cut off the excess poster board. Hang the zoo entrance sign over the door or above the party food table. Use current zoo entrances are design inspirations. For a Zoo-like party atmosphere, position posters and cut out images of different animals throughout the event area. For example, have a bear only section, then guests can move and view the lion section and so forth. Place fun facts about specific animals on poster board with the images. Have party guests walk from area to area and talk about each of the animals. While nothing beats seeing a lion in person, this may be the next best thing.

Add some nature elements to the Zoo party such as faux plants of various sizes. Cut out likenesses of leaves from green construction paper and paste them where needed. Create flowers from tissue paper in a color to match the theme party and then spread around the party area. Create a fun, jungle-like area for the tiger section for example.

A fantastic zoo theme party is perfect for any animal lover. If the zoo is not open why not bring the zoo to the party location by creating a homemade zoo with arts & crafts materials. Not only is a zoo theme party but also very educational.
