Saving on Exercise Equipment

NOT available to public

by Wayne French

When it comes to exercise equipment, I don't have any. I prefer to do all my exercises without machine interference. You know, all those traditional exercises like pull-ups, push-ups, leg-raises, dips, etc. Now, this is not the chosen route for every individual who is striving to stay fit.

We've all been swindled into buying a Bowflex or two in our time. We come up with some grandiose exercise regimen in our head – and then immediately look for a product to make everything easier. Unfortunately, that usually leaves down a few thousand dollars and up a few dusty exercise machines, which likely will not get use.

So what's a more realistic means to get in shape? The first thing you must do is develop the will power needed to stick to a regimen for both exercise and dieting. No matter what exercise equipment you purchase, it can't physically make any difference unless you include the proper dietary complements – and unless you have the will to stick to an exercise regimen.

Setting up a gym at your own home is easy to accomplish. No need to buy every piece of fitness equipment you can get your hands on, as you'll spend more than it's necessary and you won't have space at home for all of the fitness equipment.

Here's how you can begin a good exercise regimen: first purchase some inexpensive, minor pieces of exercise equipment. You may want to purchase a ball to work on your flexibility and a set of exercise equipment weights to strengthen your muscles. For instance, you could purchase a cheap dumbbell set to strengthen your arms; and then purchase leg weights, which you can use to build leg strength from jogging. All in all, you should be able to get a full set of exercise equipment for under $75 – and even cheaper if you sift through the classified ads or buy from ebay. And you may even want to purchase an exercise trampoline. This is a good way to get the whole family involved including the kids.

Once you have your set of equipment assembled, you should then work out a diet that will complement your exercises. For instance, is your primary goal to gain muscle? If so, you will definitely want to increase your protein intake. If you are thin, you will also want to put on more fat, which most body-builders and nutritionists claim is necessary if you want to gain muscle.

Once you have your diet and your exercise equipment, you will then want to draw up an exercise regimen. At this point, all you have to do is execute your plan. If you end up sticking to it, you can reward yourself with a new home gym at some point.

So stop procrastinating and get started today. You’ll be glad you did later on, and wonder why you waited so long.
