Designing the Right Call to Action for Rack Cards

by Brad Kartel

When you design a “call to action” element in rack cards, you should be careful always with your choice of words and of course the subtle elements in “psychological” design. Rack cards have a limited space for proper marketing, and you will want to create the most efficient “call to action” area that both informs and actively requests readers to respond to its message in a certain way.

Let me give you some common professional tips in designing the right call to action with color rack cards. These should help you to significantly increase the rate of responses and ultimate success with your rack card marketing.

1. Flag your message with a shape or arrow – Flagging messages of action is crucial if you want your readers to act more readily. Try to flag your message with a different shape or arrow pointing towards that particular section. These are direct but very effective ways to immediately let people know what you want from them. They will quickly follow those shapes and arrows to its literal conclusion and hopefully to your invitation for action. Believe me this works and is worth doing.

2. Use a distinct color that pops out – You can also increase your rack cards effectiveness and of course its convincing power if you make that call to action area pop out among its environment. To achieve this, you should use distinct color groups for that particular area.

Using odd neon or metallic colors can easily bring in that curious element from your design and of course make them more visible. The more visible your rack card call to action elements are, the more people will be convinced about your marketing messages.

3. Use a specific word that gets target readers to respond – Some specific words are always fine tuned for quick reader response, depending on key demographics. By using those specific words in your custom rack cards you will help increase its effectiveness, especially if you use it along with your call to action elements. So do not just use words like “Buy now!” or “Hurry”. Go for the big leagues by going for something that your readers respond to well.

So it is not just using the word “buy now”. It is about actively using a specific word that your target readers can relate to. So stuff like “impress those women now by buying...” is just a sample example that should get people to respond more better to your color rack cards. It is just about using the right words and combinations really.

4. Make sure your call to action fonts are clean and clear – To effectively invite people to act for your marketing purposes, your own call to action areas should always be printed in fonts that are clean and clear. Sans serif fonts are s good for the top part of your custom newsletter call to action. Serif fonts are good for the supporting body of your invitations to action. This allows for visibility and of course more ease of reading for the guests. So make sure that you review your fonts and see if there are places where she might not be able to go.

Just combine all the tips above and you should have a great call to action element set for easy success. Good Luck!
