Pain - The Invisible Killer
Out of all the symptoms of illness, or of being 'unwell', pain has to be the most difficult to contend with. Whether suffering from debilitating back pain, sciatica down one of both of the legs, or headaches.
In ancient times, physicians used specific plants as relaxants to help in the treatment of pain and tension. Even today, many different cultures still use plants or animal derivatives in the treatment of pain.
However, many medicines which modern western doctors rely on for treating pain are found from far flung parts of the world and jungle depths. One type of pain relief which is growing in popularity, although has its origins from centuries ago is the use of magnets to deflect and reduce pain created through various causes.
Often in an area of the body which is suffering from pain, that area will have restricted blood flow in and around it. The area may also feel hot to the touch which is a result of inflammation. There can also be a build of lactic acid and other deposits such as calcium.
For the body to begin healing itself, it is essential that the acidity be neutralised and the process of healing begin. Magnet therapy can accentuate and promote the neutralising of acid in the body. Magnets encourage the body tissues to relax and expulsion of debris and toxins from the body so that the body itself can begin to start its own pain relieving.
Magnet therapy has been proven to help with pain caused by arthritis, but can aid relief of pain caused by torn ligaments, muscles and tendons. Pain brought about by RSI can be eased with magnets, as can migraines and headaches.
The number of people in the UK alone who suffer with acute or chronic pain has lead to an increase in the options of pain relief being researched and produced as alternatives to traditional tablets and medicines. One form of pain relief that has been used for a number of years now has been TENS machines.
These are a great tablet alternative and can be good for people where magnet therapy hasn't had as good a result as needed. Pain suffered for different reasons and stimulants has so many variations that something like Pulse Electromagnetic Therapy (PEMF) which is the generic term for TENS machines can be used on different settings to more accurately target specific pain symptoms.
It stands to reason that pain caused by a muscle strain will respond differently to pain caused by a wound or a leg ulcer. Muscle aches and sprains can readily be attacked by TENS machines used on the relevant setting and give hours of effective pain relief to people.
