In a Toronto conference, it was revealed that people perceive that Google provides more relevant results than other search engines.

Gord Hotchkiss, president and CEO of Enquiro search research firm, presented his updated “Golden Triangle” eye-tracking study. The triangle is applicable not only for Google alone but for Yahoo and MSN as well.

Hotchkiss said that people had to go deeper on the page and look around more to find what they were looking for. This should not be. The ideal user experience according to him would be if users would always find what they’re looking for in the most prominent place at the top of the results listing.

Based on Hotchkiss’ study, Google seems to come closer to the ideal user experience than MSN and Yahoo.

The success of Google is attributed to its Page Rank Algorithm, that is. The latter was developed to boost search results. Truly, it has made a sweeping change that other search engines are left gasping. Google Page Rank is based on the number of links that come to and fro the pages.

Gurus in search engine optimization (SEO) continue their search for ways to make their ranking soaring. SEO has been incorporated with e-commerce web development in order to augment both the ranking and business gain.

More and more gurus are getting busy making their sites a high-ranking one. Nonetheless, there are questions still of the reliability of Google’s ranking. Is it really free from human tampering?

According to Google, its PageRank uses complex, automated methods that make human with the results extremely difficult.

There are number of reasons why Google is such a hit. One reason is the ‘brand effect’. The Google name itself can make wonders on how people will perceive it. The name is regal in itself and it speaks for itself.
