Boost Your Current Conversion Rate
Nowadays, people always talking about Online Marketing, I believe almost majority of us who is venturing into online business would notice almost everybody talks about it everywhere. It seems getting to be one of the most talked about topics online especially in recent years. However, even the topic is widely discussed online, is seems that only small group of people actually able to grasp to fundamental principles of Online Marketing, what is it all about, and how to go about it.Day by day, for myself, I always wonder around online to seek more discussion and tutorial for areas like:-•What is the basic and yet most important aspect of online marketing campaign?•What are the critical areas to zoom into in order to achieve maximum result to make my online business a success?Well, more often than not, my answer seems to be “Getting more and more traffic to my website”. But I think that’s not the exact answer for it! This has been a troubling subject on my mind most of the time. Agreeably, traffic is important; it is one of the life bloods to any online business. But, what should I do with the traffic that my site is currently receiving? Am I able to hold my current visitors, before they start to look elsewhere?I think that before even cranking my head as to how to drive traffic to my site, I really need to give it a deep though on what to do with current traffic first before losing them all together. As the old saying, “It is easier to retain your current customers than to find a new customer to replace them!” Isn’t that true enough? I should really value my current visitors and accommodate they needs first.Maybe you are having the same trouble as me too. Just ask yourself a simple question like this: - “Are you throwing you current traffic away? Little to your awareness, you are maybe just holding onto 5 or less of the traffic you current receive! Don’t be surprise about it. Just analyze your traffic log.So, before cranking your head on what in order to get more traffic, I think you should consider this fundamental and beneficial topic first.Let’s say you are currently getting a steady flow of about 3000 visitors a month (which is rather low, but well, let’s start with small amount first, and that how others start it out too). You sell some affiliate’s products that earned you a commission of $10. On average, you could be making about 1 sale a day, and that’s 30 sales in a month, earning you $300 dollar in commissions for a month. Not bad at all considering the low traffic!Next, you simply wanted to double your commission like everyone else wanted. From simple calculation, it is very clear you are making a sales out of every hundred customer per day, or 30 sales out of 3000visitors (1 conversion). In order to double your sales and commission, you will need to increase traffic from 100 to 200 per day. That should give you double in commissions. That's what most of us see and do right? "Well, if I'm making $10 with every 100 visitors, then I could make $100 with every 1000visitors right?” you would tell yourself that isn’t it? Then start to spend hard earn money on advertising to increase the traffic. However, we should be considering another option before spending the hard earned money. Like a businessman, we should think and see from the other view point, “Hey, I’m only able to convert 1 out of every 100 visitors into paying customers! That's only a poor 1 conversion rate.”. “What could be done then?”Instead of working to improve on traffic, we could also work on ways to improve the conversion rate, isn’t it so? Not forgetting the fact that you are already getting “Potential” of 3000 customers per month isn’t it! Don't simply think and see it as if you are just making just 1 pathetic sale in a day. Look at it the other way round instead; look at it as you are losing the other 99 sales every single day. Can you afford to continue losing the potential 99sales every single day?In my case, well, I’m not really selling products yet at the moment. If your look at my other sites, most of the time I’m just getting it filled out with information for visitors to search. Whether or not visitors do buy, it doesn’t really matter to me…yet. Oh yeah, back to our discussion, how do you do to increase conversion rate?Let’s do it this way…if your website is still having low conversion at this moment, why not change it then? Yup, some will worry of losing its visitors all together if they do change it. Hey, it probably can't get any worse than it is right now, why not give it a short? (But do back up all the current data first if the outcome is not what you aim for, so that you could either make further improvement or reverse the action.)For star, there are a few very basic tasks that you could start to do right away:1.Track everything that you do.Put it simply like this, if you don't even know your current website’s conversion rate, how would you then be able to make improvement? So, look at your site’s traffic logs available from your hosting side. Pay attention to the visit duration whenever you update your site’s content or something on it. Does it fluctuate much? This should give you an idea of what your visitor like and dislike; and their preference…etc.2.Make changes step by step.Rule of thumb: “Don't simply change everything at one shot. You’ll risk losing majority of your current visitors if they feel awe!” However, you could clean up the site’s navigation bar a bit, search function, color, background, images…etc. Only made small changes, and change bit by bit, step by step. 3.Track visitors’ reaction.Analyze your visitors’ reaction to those changes. Watch the traffic and sales fluctuation for following 1 or 2 weeks. Is there an obvious difference or fluctuation? Does it get better or worse? If it does improve and gets better – good for you, keep those good improvement. But if it somehow got worse, revert it back fast.4.Repeat the same process.Continuous improvement is the key here. Go back and repeat the same process. Analyze on how it is going on, where it is heading to…etc. Roll out yet another small little change. See again if it produces a better result.Still following me here? Thanks. Yes, all the above may seem to involve a lot bunch of work…it is indeed. But it will help you to achieve better and higher profits for your site without spending un-necessarily on advertising! Keep your hard earned money.Do you realize that the different between those successful marketers and those not so successful it is that the more successful group do test and track almost every single things that they do for their online business. It is now your turn to go and make it happen, build and improve for the better. Remember, nobody is doomed for failure.
