Will Apple Survive Without Steve Jobs

by Sherry Tingley

Will Apple continue to be a good investment without Steve Jobs? Investment analysts are suggesting that the company will be growing even more.

Today, Apple is worth $377.83 billion dollars. Share prices are fluctuating between $401 - $409. It is an exciting, large company and designs for new products are being created. The iTV, which is currently in the prototype stage, could revolutionize the television industry and it could add billions of dollars to the worth of Apple.

Gene Munster, analyst for Piper Jaffray, a $400 million dollar investment company, says "We believe that of the estimated 220 million flat panel TVs sold in 2012, 48% or 106 million units will be internet-connected, of which Apple could sell 1.4 million units," Munster wrote. "We believe an Apple Television could add $2.5 billion or 2% to revenue in 2012, $4.0 billion or 3% in 2013 and $6.0 billion in 2014."

Will that make investing in Apple now a good investment? An article by David Zeiler,: Why Apple Stock Is Headed for $500 - And Beyond. The momentum behind Apple seems to be growing past the loss of it's founder, Steve Jobs.

A recent book called "Steve Jobs," by Walter Isaacson, clearly reveals the thinking that has been driving the success of the company for years. Steve's out of the box, creative thinking has gotten the masses to use computers in a new way. The first product that Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak created was called the "Blue Box." It was designed to hack into the phone system and place free long distance calls. Selling these to friends was their first business venture together. Held up at gun point during one sale, the two Steves went on to develop more technology.

Designing products with ease of use has been Steve Job's philosophy. Thank goodness, because the masses are not tech geeks. His artistic sense of design, minimalistic lifestyle and obsessive attention to detail are the fuel behind the products we have come to love and use daily.

From his high school part-time job working at Hewlett-Packard, Steve Jobs found one mentor after the next to teach him about technology, product creating, business structure and relationships.

Steve went to India where he learned the beauty of simplicity and minimalist thinking. The influences on his personality led to some problems, like not having enough furniture to be hospitable and thinking that his diet was so pure that he didn't have body odor. Many people in his early days didn't want to work at the same time he did because of his body odor. He was often barefoot at many occaisions. Often seen wearing the same outfits, his minimalistic style prevailed.

Although not always the best at relationships, his demand for perfection could sometimes drive his coworkers nuts. He was considered difficult to get along with, yet top executives of other companies yearned to be in his good graces.

Steve was able to choose and influence key people in his business. His entrance back into Apple after being asked to leave is a compelling story. After getting back on the board of directors, he replaced almost the entire board with people that were hand picked to work with him and be a support to him. It was his influence and leadership that brought Apple back into profitability and finally to be the largest company in the world.

There is a future for Apple because of Steve Jobs. His vision and creative thinking will truly be missed and his contributions to the world will benefit generation after generation.
