EReader Cover – Best of the EReader Accessories

by Josh Tanner

If you are a new owner of an eReader, then you may need to purchase eReader accessories, such as an eReader cover or an eReader skin, to protect the surface and screen. The best eReader cover is the one that matches your lifestyle for using and carrying the device. The best eReader skin is one that removes easily without leaving glue on the device.

There are a few built-in accessories, such as the eReader cover with light, or built-in stands and storage pockets. Also there are "designer" covers and skins which are fun and do a good job of preventing damage to your eReader. However, think about your daily routine and when and where you use your eReader.

For the commuter a splash-proof or water-proof cover is perfect because you walk from your train or bus to the office in all kinds of weather. Some of the water-proof covers have a nylon cord for hanging the eReader around your neck or over your shoulder. This is not just an option because people leave their things on trains or in taxis all the time.

If you are using your eReader for an electronic cookbook, then splash-proof or water-proof covers are a necessity. The water-proof covers allow access to the keyboard and controls for paging and scanning. These covers prevent during cooking ingredients, such as flour or sugar, from blowing into the keyboard. No matter how careful you are when measuring, mixing, or blending flour or sugar particles become airborne. Leaving your eReader on the countertop during cooking and moving pots, bowls, or utensils invites crashes to the floor. Also it is advisable to have an eReader cover with padded, rounded corners.

The designer covers for an eReader are made of an interesting array of materials from leather, fabric, Neoprene, or clear plastic. Some have heavy embossing and top-stitching to enhance the appearance. There are designer covers with pictures, such as from magazine and book covers, or graphics, such as stencils, patterns, and splashes. The designer eReader cover is usually more expensive, however the quality in some of them justify the expense. If the cover has storage, extra padding, or extra straps for carrying your eReader, then it may be worth it for your lifestyle.

One of the most popular of the eReader accessories is the eReader skin. The eReader skin is limited protection by being the buffer to prevent scratches. The problem witht he eReader skin is it does not have any padding. If you are only using a skin and do not have a padded cover, you may want to reconsider. The best eReader skin is one that fits properly, is easy to install, and especially easy to remove. Some eReader skins have a sticky film that can escape from the skin and leave the sticky substance on the screen of the eReader. Using the eReader skin with a water-proof or splash-proof eReader cover is a great combination. The designer look of the skin is visible, however the use of the eReader does not disturb the eReader skin.
