Selecting The Most Appropriate Window Tint For Your Vehicle - 4 Things You Need To Know

by Lee Hope

1. Do you live in a warm country, possibly someplace like Florida or Texas or even the West Indies. If so then their certainly are a few considerations you should be mindful of before you just head out and buy a budget window tint for the car. So, what's it to be, are you going to choose the lowest priced product or up your budget just a little and treat yourself to a much better quality window film. My point here is you need to invest a bit of extra cash to get a lot more benefit, if you buy cheap, do not assume the window film to last anywhere near as long.

2. There're variety of opinions out there in regards to what constitutes a good tint film, if you go to any good tint store they'll try baffling you with science, but by looking over this write-up you've much more information at hand. They might talk to you about things like TSER, IR, VLT's and a few other technical terms that do not really mean anything to you as the end user initially, therefore be prepared for their questions and stick to your guns in regards to selecting the right window film for your car, but do take the advice on board.

3. Do your research on film brands and you'll find a few names are always at the top of the list, generally brands like Llumar, Suntek and Global. These larger manufacturers have their own manufacturing facilities, there are some other manufacturers in the pot but essentially in all, their are perhaps ten true manufacturers of window film products in the marketplace and many will have a broad spectrum of products to choose from, starting with single layer budget products going through to nano ceramic / IR advanced products.

4. I also want to swiftly touch on some of the things I mentioned earlier regarding the properties of the film, some products in the marketplace at the current time are now being marketed as infrared (IR) films, these films block out a certain spectral range of the sun, primarily the warmth you can feel on the skin on a hot day, so you'll certainly feel cooler in the vehicle with IR film. These IR figures may be a less than the TSER figures (total solar energy reduction) figures that some tint stores will press upon you, but do not be fooled, the TSER figure doesn't indicate that you will be cooler in the vehicle, my advice is to look for a very good IR window film if you are in a hotter climate and if you're in a regular climate then I think a film with a TSER figure of around 50 to 60%, should be great for you. You will still get heat rejection benefits however not quite as much as an IR film but it will nevertheless be very apparent on a hot day.
