Dress to Impress

With the effects of the recession still rearing its ugly head, the days of the wining and dinning potential clients with big lunches are but a distant memory. People are opting for more low-key lunches with a large sum deciding to entertain in the office instead. With first impressions being everything and appearances so paramount in today's world, office space had better be dressed to impress.

Co-ordination

I'm not talking shoes with bags, and ties with shirts here - however that's always a good start. Simple things like ensuring all pens, notebooks and general stationary supplies are matching around the office go a long way to showing attention to detail and brand building. Buying these things in bulk will ensure your office always looks smart for whoever may stop by on short notice.

Colour

There's no need to be bland to display professionalism. Colour can be injected into your office through your accessories. Bins, post-its, pens, mouse pads etc. are great ways to add a little life to your office. Giving different teams or areas an individual colour will look interesting yet ordered at the same time.

Display

When inviting new clients into the office, chances are you want to broadcast your successes so they know just how great you are. Support your pitch with delicate reminders strategically placed around the office that will radiate the success of your firm. Certificates here, wall charts there, trophies, medals, photos. What ever you've got need to be displayed well and in prime position to impress.

Meeting Room

Where ever your having your meeting, be it meeting room, or personal office, make sure the are is prepped long before your guest are due to arrive. Small touches such as pens, notebooks, mugs and water glasses set up at each seat will have a positive impact as they enter the room.

Cleanliness

Encouraging workers to take pride in their work stations is helpful on two levels. The old adage 'clear desk clear mind' really does ring true for some people. Also, any unexpected guests that arrive the day before the cleaner is due won't be met by crumbs, spillages and general office desk grime. Giving each department or groups of desks there own basic cleaning equipment should encourage this. Sponges, wipes and anti-bacterial spray should do it. If not, I'm sure a few incentive bribes for the cleanest banks of desks wouldn't go amiss!

With your office looking as modern and as stylish as possible, making a good impression should be a breeze.
