A Spiritual Perspective of Who You Really Are

by Richard Blackstone

What is happening in your life? How are you responding to what is happening? We need to take a look at these questions with a priority of spiritual perspective in mind. First we need to have a handle on “who we are” before we can determine if “what's happening” serves “who we are.”

I am going to take a leap of faith here and say that we are not separate entities unto ourselves. Actually we need to go to the heart of the matter and describe who we really are by asking the question of who we are not. This will help determine whether or not you are conscious and aware, or sleepwalking and don't have a clue.

Who you really are is not your body. Your body is a wonderful vehicle to carry you around while you occupy space in the physical world. When you have worn out your body and it can no longer perform the bodily functions required to maintain this physical life form, the real you leaves the body and returns to the non-physical realm of the absolute. The body remains on earth and decomposes back into the physical stuff of the earth from which it was formed. The body is recycled. The real you is not your mind. The brain is a wonderful tool that you have been using to take information in, analyze information, and make choices about how to use the information. All this information comes from the mind. The mind draws on the ego and the sacred self for advice on what to choose and passes the choice of creation on to the body to experience the creation. The mind's function is to create the mentality of who we think we are in the physical relative world, but the mind is not who we really are.

Who you really are is the silent witness that observes the mind and the body at work.

Who you really are is the eternal force from the infinite source.

That part of your three-part being we describe as the soul would be the best interpretation of who you really are. The soul moves on after the mind and body have experienced earthly death. The real you is eternal because the real you is a spirit child of God. When you wake up and remember who you really are your whole perspective on life changes.

You no longer view yourself with limits and you free yourself of conditions you allowed to be imposed on you concerning the abilities and talents you possess. You are freed from the concept of an earthly death and realize that this is just one in an on going cycle of experiences in the physical. This allows you even more freedom while in the physical, because you are not shackled by the fears of heaven and hell or acceptance or condemnation.

This is who we really are, and our function is to experience whatever we choose while on this physical adventure so that we can know experientially all that we know conceptually. No matter who you think you are while strolling the earth in your physical body, who you really are is a spirit child of God, in the process of Goding.

Who you personally say you are right now on this planet earth is entirely your choice and has been defined up to this moment in time by the creations you have brought forth out of your own self-definition. Use this definition of yourself while you make your observations about what is or is not serving you.

You are an infinite being of light and the core of your very essence is this concept called unconditional love. That is who you really are. You are here on planet earth in physical form to experience love in all of its infinite perspectives. Isn't that a glorious assignment? Enjoy yourself by being in joy as much as you possibly can.
