Why Not Make A Red Foil Pillar Candle For Valentine's Day

by Kaye Dennan

Why not make some red foil candles and treat your partner on Valentine's Day to a special romantic dinner. They are really not very difficult to make and are not expensive to make either because they can be made in molds that you have around the house.

Pillar Candle Molds

To get the best affect with a foil candle, the candle should be about 6 inches tall and you most likely have some molds around the house that you can use, such as:

• Waxed milk cartons

• Tins from tinned vegetables or fruit • Or you could set the wax into glass molds

Using the mold get some red foil paper, scrunch it up and place it around the wick in the candle mold. Bring this about 3/4 way up the candle mould and make sure it is pushed towards the sides so that it shows when the candle is set. Melt your wax as instructed when purchasing the wax, and pour it into the wax into the mold.

So that the wick has the best chance of continued burning, use a skewer and gently manoeuvre the foil away from the wick and also ensure that the wick is straight. Check that the foil has not floated up with the wax and that it is spread out through the length of the candle.

Don't forget, that if you are going to use glass molds, the glass does need to be preheated from cold in an oven, up to 150 degrees before pouring in hot wax.

The best affect will be from using a white wax and the foil makes a lovely effect as the candle burns down. Set the candle up on a glass plate with a few red petals scattered around, a bottle of wine and have a great evening!

Some other ideas for red home made candles are:

• to make a white pillar candle and decorate it with red stick on hearts

• make a red pillar candle and display it on a glass plate with little heart chocolates around it

• make some red floating candles in the shape of a heart

• make some red candles in the shape of a teddy bear or any shape that your partner is particularly prone to

• use some red taper candles to decorate your intimate dining experience.

Candles are the epitome of romance and to woo your male lover on Valentine's Day use a sexy perfume in your candle like sandalwood or for a female a musky scent is usually very popular.
