People with Sleep Apnea at Increased Risk for Auto Accidents
Researchers at the Vancouver Coastal Research Institute and the University of British Columbia are reporting that people with sleep apnea have twice the risk of being in an auto accident, according to the journal Thorax. In addition, their study finds that people who suffer from sleep apnea are three to five times more likely to be in a serious accident involving personal injury.
The study is the largest of its kind and the first to examine severity of the accidents.
