Afraid of Change? Do It Anyway!
Have you ever felt like you needed a change in your life, but you did not know what to do or where to start? For many years I have been thinking that we live in the wealthiest country in the world, yet most of us live paycheck by paycheck. I remember coming back from work everyday with the desire to do so many things, but the energy to do none. If you are like me, you have probably felt the desire to pursue some of your passions, whatever it is for you, photography, painting, playing an instrument or a sport, or just spending more quality time with your family. But it is hard to find the time and energy after working 40 hours or more a week.
If you are not careful you might end up living all your life just working for someone else, and never taking the time to really enjoy what you have been given such as, your family, your talents, your health, your friends, the beauty of nature, etc. Some people keep waiting for retirement to start enjoying their life only to realize that you they are going to need a part time job after all. I have had this in mind for years, but what really pushed me to make a change in my life was my last visit to South America to see my family. Making a trip from the north of the United States, where I used to live, to South America can be expensive, especially if you want to buy presents for everybody. So I couldn't go and see my family as often as I would like to, but never did anything about it either, until this summer. This last visit home had a special highlight; I got to meet my newborn niece! When it was time to come back, it was so hard to leave her knowing that if I kept doing what I was doing for a living I would have to wait about two years to see my baby niece again. I kept thinking I had to come back more often, so I wouldn't miss all the fun of her first years.
I knew I needed to make some financial changes in my life, but didn't know where to start or what to do. I had just moved to Florida, and finding a well-paying job here was a challenge. So one day, I talked to someone who is doing very well financially, and I asked him what he did for a living. He not only told me what he did, but invited me to one of his seminars. He said to me, "if you want different results, you must change what you are doing". So I attended his seminar, and from all I learned there I was so amazed at all the different possibilities to make money other than just having a job. He also encouraged me to start my own business. This idea sounded good to me since I was already looking for something new to do; but what really helped me make a decision was the fact that he offered to be my mentor.
If you ask anybody who has been successful in business, they will tell you that they needed a mentor to help them get to where they are. So I encourage you to find a mentor as soon as possible. Not only for business, but for anything you want to become or achieve in life. You become like the people you surround yourself with, so think of what it is you want to become and be friends with people that already have those attributes. I am so thankful for my mentor, Dwayne Golden, who inspired me to start my own business and who opened my eyes to so many different financial possibilities. Don't wait until it is too late. Make a decision to start enjoying now your life, the company of your loved ones, and all the financial available to you.
