Tips on Article Submissions From An Article Directory Administrator

by Emmanuel DeFreitas

So you want to become a force on the Internet and have come to understand that you must write and submit articles to article directories in order to achieve your goal. Congratulations! Your realization has at least provided you with a chance to give your website a pulse on the net. You also, unfortunately, have provided yourself the perfect opportunity to make a complete ass of yourself and relegate your hopes and aspirations to the dustbin of cyber-obscurity. Before you judge the opening statement too harshly, let me elaborate. As an article directory administrator, I have the pleasure and duty of reading, accepting or denying a vast number of submitted articles. I have come to embrace the style and substance of specific authors as trustworthy and solid contributors with a high level of competence. On the other hand, there are far too many so-called authors that have the misguided idea that their only route to recognition is solely based on mass submissions of mindless, hardly legible drivel followed by as many links as possible in a poorly conceived and cluttered resource box. Search engines may spider and index these mass submissions and recognize all the back links. Your site may even temporarily get a moderate increase in page rank and traffic. You may even think that you have accomplished what you set out to do in the first place. Well, give your head a shake and think again! The only thing you actually accomplished is that you now have thousands of people reading absolutely pathetic, worthless content displaying your name and website as the contributing source. Not really something to be proud of. Do not expect to have too many of these misdirected visitors bookmarking your site for future reference nor can you expect them to recommend your site to any friends or family. The term, content is king, is a justifiable one as far as search engine optimization is concerned. Good, informative, well researched, well written and well formatted content is head and shoulders above anything else as far as building a solid foundation of trust and credibility for both yourself and your website. To become recognized as an authority on your particular area or areas of expertise, you must demonstrate a certain level of competence. Poorly conceived articles structured around preschool grammar with a sprinkling of misspelled words will never amount to anything more than rubbish. If your intended audience is anyone under the age of five, you may have a chance. Otherwise, I have a suggestion or two to at least give you a chance to last longer than a few weeks on the Internet radar screen before becoming the envy of every magician and disappearing without the aid of any props. Before you write an article, take the time to ask yourself some very important questions. Who am I writing this article for? What am I really saying in this article? Why should I write this article? Where will I place this article? When should I finally submit this article? 1) Who am I writing this article for?Authors write for a multitude of reasons. Some authors write because they truly believe they have a message to convey to assist their fellow man in living a more bearable and enriched life. Some authors write to sell a product or promote a cause or they just want to be heard. Whatever the reason for writing your article, always remember to tailor it to the intended reader. Never write an article solely for the purpose of having it indexed in Google or Yahoo. If you write your article with real people in mind, someone may actually want to read it.2) What am I really saying in this article? As an article directory administrator, I can honestly say that I have seen the same article, with the same message, rehashed and reworded by multiple authors, over and over again ad nauseum. It sometimes seems to me that whenever someone comes up with a unique and fresh new article, there are a million keyboards immediately thumping out a slightly different version of the very same thing. This image hardly gives me any hope in the exponential expansion of human knowledge that the Internet was supposed to foster. If you must write an article based on a very narrow theme, at least write it without plagiarizing someone else’s work. Say something useful and make your article truly yours!3) Why should I write this article? The answer to this question is not as obvious as you may think. People write articles for a variety of reasons. The prime reason to write an article is to convey some sort of message or to garner some form of reaction from the reader. The author should never lose sight of the message he or she is trying to deliver. If you get sidetracked with concerns over search engine optimization or backlinks, then the message will be diluted and your audience will be lost. Everything that you are attempting to do will be in vain. Write with a well defined purpose and stick to it.4) When should I finally submit this article? After you have carefully crafted your one of a kind article, stop...take a deep breath...and... read it over, word for word. Check the article for spelling mistakes. Any word processor worth its salt has a spell-check feature that allows the author a quick and painless method of finding errors. It is amazing the number of submitted articles I read that have glaring spelling errors. This turns off many readers and assigns you the dubious honor of being labeled either lazy, uneducated, or both. Only when you are absolutely, positively, beyond a shadow of a doubt certain that your article is error free from a spelling and grammatical viewpoint, can you move on the next and final point. 5) Where will I place this article? This is a complete no-brainer. First and foremost post your article to your website or blog. You have earned the right to be the first to have your newly completed masterpiece displayed on your own site for the entire world to marvel at your creative genius. Submit it to top article directories next. By submitting your article to multiple article directories, you will expand your audience exponentially by allowing other content hungry webmasters the privilege and opportunity to advertise both you, the author, as well as the links back to your website in your well crafted resource box. Invariably, the articles that have a clear, concise, well-crafted message find their way into the top articles section of my article directory. These authors have taken the necessary time to ensure their lasting success. They understand that there is no substitute for quality. The choice is clear, but it is up to you to make it happen.
