How to Plan for a Baby Shower Party
Holding a baby shower party is a tradition that has been incorporated to the American culture just recently. It is held to help the parents collect a set of infant layettes and help them prepare things that the baby needs after birth.
Almost anyone can hold baby-themed parties but this is usually left to a relative or friend who will most likely host the party itself and arrange everything from the guest invitation, catering and party games and receiving the gifts for the parents and the baby.
Here is a checklist of the things that you should do when planning for a baby shower:
1. Place one person in charge of the event.
This may be a relative, a close friend, the grandmother – whoever is the closest to the mom-to-be. Having one person in charge of the planning will make things run more smoothly.
2. Decide on the date.
Most baby showers are held on the last trimester of pregnancy. However, it still depends on the date when it is most convenient for the parents and the visitors. When finalizing the date, it is better to schedule it on a weekend so that the visitors and the child’s parents would not have to worry about work.
3. Finalize the venue.
If you are planning on a small reception, you can hold the baby shower at the mother’s house. This would be most convenient for the pregnant woman so that she would not have to worry about traveling, especially when her due date to give birth is near.
4. Give out invitations.
Invitations are something that must be well written in polished grammar and one that reflects truly the theme of the occasion.
For invitations, you can have them manufactured and customized by a party planner or a graphic web designer which has knowledge in invitation and calling card customization.
It would be best if you could have someone do this for you for free if you are not expecting a large guest. This will save a lot of money and help you use it for other more important stuff.
5. Finish up planning for the baby shower by deciding on the food that you will serve, and the items to be given away for the visitors. 6. Food and beverages are also the best part of the event. This should coincide with your party theme and should fit well with the people whom you are actually inviting.
There must be a consensual agreement on both parties as to what type of food to be served and what kind of beverages to prepare.
Once you have all these details ironed out, you can go ahead and have fun on the day of the baby shower that you have meticulously planned for.
