Empty Inkjet Cartridges Can Be Reused

by Joe Rogers

Recycling empty inkjet cartridges is an easy way for you to help to reduce the impact on our environment.

Here are 5 great reasons to recycle your empty inkjet cartridges.

Most importantly almost 3 entire pounds of resources involved in production are saved when a cartridge is recycled.

Secondly, an average inkjet cartridge takes an average of 3.5 oz. of oil to be manufactured. With the massive global demand for oil, supplies will eventually become more scarce.

Another reason you should recycle your empty inkjet cartridges, is to lower the amount of garbage. It takes several hundred years for an inkjet cartridge to break down. Did you know that each year over 300 million printer cartridges are thrown away? This equates into about 75,000 tons of garbage. To give you an idea how much that is, that he is equal in late to nearly 30,000 full grown African elephants.

The forth reason is that recycled and remanufactured inkjet cartridges save money. There are recycling companies out there that want your empty cartridges. They take the empty cores and professionally refill and sell them back to users at a lower price than OEM. There are many quality companies that can do this and maintain high quality.

Finally, recycling your empty inkjet cartridge can be quick and painless. Many companies out there that sell cartridges locally or online have her recycling program.

An easy method for end users to recycle inkjet cartridges is through the use of postage paid return envelopes that are sometimes included with an online inkjet cartridge purchase.

A return mailer (recycle envelope) is most commonly a self-sealing plastic bag that is pre-addressed to a recycling company. The person puts their empty inkjet cartridge into the bag, seals it, and drops it off at a post office or any mailbox. The postage is included, and the whole process takes just a few seconds.

If you are going to need more ink, a great way to recycle is through the use of an inkjet cartridge refilling service such as the Jetpak mailer program.

Here's how the Jetpak mailer program works. First, you purchase a Jetpak prepaid mailer. Once your cartridge runs out of ink, you simply place your empty cartridge into the plastic bag provided, include your return address, and drop it in the mail. Once the refilling company receives your mailer, they will professionally inspect, clean, and refill your cartridge. They will run a print test, and if everything checks at OK they will mail it back to you. If the cartridge does not pass their print test, they will mail you a credit voucher to return another empty cartridge free of charge.

In about a week the completed cartridge is returned to the customer at a big savings over buying a new cartridge. This method also lowers the amount of garbage going into our landfills.

Why recycle? Why not recycle?

It reduces garbage, saves money, saves natural resources, and as the responsible thing to do.

Just because an empty inkjet cartridge is out of ink, doesn't mean it's broken.

It just needs to be recycled.
