CHOOSING A KINDERGARTEN IN DUBAI
“Children are great imitators , so give them something great to imitate”
Choosing the right preschool for your child is a very important decision as this lays the foundation of their future. Choosing a school for your kid for the very first time could be a daunting task. Therefore it requires considerable thought and effort put into it. Since there are numerous kindergarten schools available in Dubai, choosing the most appropriate one could be a monumental task.
I have pin pointed some important factors to be considered before finalizing your decision:
• Expat kids in the UAE are not eligible for free or government-aided schools. There is a wide range of private kindergarten & international kindergarten in Dubai, most of them are indicatively designed to serve the English-speaking expat community residing in UAE.
• Your kid must be at least 18 months old to enroll in a nursery.
• You can easily search the web for Dubai Kindergarten list and get the specifics about the various options.
• The Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau brings out annual reviews of all private schools in Dubai, which can be attained easily from its website & can be used to analyze the different schools.
• The most preferred choices for primary education chosen by outsiders are the Dubai English Speaking School and the Jumeirah English Speaking School.
• Scarcity of Seats: Reputed International schools in Dubai are choked with applications every year, and primary schools, especially, are over-subscribed. Most of the best primary schools are jam packed for the next three to four years.
• Ranking and Authorization: While visiting the selected school, make sure to check their accreditation information to make a wise decision about the school’s quality and its curriculum.
• Diversity of Syllabus offered: Dubai offers variety of educational curriculum, ranging from British, American, Australian, Arabic, Canadian and Indian to the International Baccalaureate (IB) system, so elect the one which meet your prerequisites.
• School Remuneration: Getting education in Dubai is a costly affair which could range anywhere between AED 5,000 a year to AED 100,000 per year for some schools. Better know your budget beforehand and research the options available in that price range.
• School Location and Conveyance: Dubai is not a huge city geographically, but the traffic jams during peek hour are certainly going to extend the commute time of your kid; so better check the travel time before stamping your decision.
• Facilities &School Campus: Before finalizing a school you should visit there and spend considerable time to analyze the facilities provided ranging from classrooms and libraries to playgrounds and gymnasiums to determine the security & comfortability of your child.
• Find out about the School Administration, Values & Foundation: Analyze issues such as the competence of the teachers, school’s mission, vision, and its values. • Try to find out the review of the school by discussing with the parents of already enrolled students. • Admission requirements: It is a good practice to check the school website to identify different documents required at the time of admission of your ward.
