Where Do Doctors Find Their Jobs?
Highly skilled doctors seeks part time position…
Doctors are an integral part of our society as they save our lives, make us feel better and offer us care throughout our entire lives. Their role in society seems in some way more fundamental than others as essentially we could do without lawyers and investment bankers and barmen, and as such it can be hard to imagine them being without a job or standing in a dole queue.

Indeed one of the many perks of being a doctor is that you are very rarely without a job. But it does happen. When a large number of med students graduate at once or if there are too many people who specialise in one area at one time there can be a few people without work.

Here are some of the places they might go to find work:

Adverts

Like the rest of us, the first place unemployed doctors will normally turn is to the job adverts. Magazines such as the British Medical Journal and other medical magazines are always full of adverts for a range of positions.

Family

Some doctors are lucky enough to come from a family which has a tradition of medicine. In this situation it can be possible for an unemployed doctor to turn to a family member for employment. This is possible as many doctors, GPs in particular not only work for their surgery, but also have a share in the business and so can employ who they like.

Work Experience

As part of their training, doctors have to undergo a range of work experience placements in lots of different sectors. If they find themselves unemployed that can often turn to people who they did work experience and ask them for work. As they have to have experience in a range of things it means that they can maybe find work in a place where they are not specialised, but still have some experience.

Recruitment Websites

A popular place to find jobs now is through recruitment websites. There are now countless places where doctors can either browse jobs in their area, or post their CV so that they can be found by prospective employers. They can also find role in competitive industries and for occupational therapist jobs or even highly specialised roles like dietitian jobs.

Jobs Find Them

Sometimes, depending on a doctor's speciality, jobs can sometimes seek out an individual. If for example a doctor specialises in a particular type of brain surgery, then a hospital may hunt them down based on their previous work as they want to offer a service that they in particular have a speciality in.
