Living Waters Part IV

by Dr Franklin T Gibbs

Saints will walk on water like Christ

The fishes in the sea speak of God's living waters. God gave man and woman dominion over the fishes of the sea. (Gen 1:28). But man and woman cannot really take dominion over the fishes of the sea unless they have dominion over the waters they inhabit.

So, man and woman will have to supersede the laws of water in order to take dominion over the fishes in the sea. Simply put, man and woman cannot be subject to that which God (who cannot lie: Tit 1:2) gave them dominion over.

As a saint, what would you think if I told you that, on the new earth, you'll walk on water and think nothing of it? That is, by giving us dominion over fishes, we also have dominion over God's living waters that the fishes inhabit.

In the new world to come, saints may use sail boats, canoes and sea vessels for fun and sport, but they will not need them for transport on or below God's oceans, seas, rivers, lakes, etc.

Jesus walked on water. (Matt 14:28-30). When Peter saw Jesus walking on water, he also wanted to walk on water. Jesus told him to come. (Matt 14:28-29). Peter had faith and stepped out of the boat and began to walk on God's living waters. He took a few steps and began to sink. For, he took his eyes off of Christ and considered the storm. He began to sink and Jesus saved him. (Matt 14:29-31).

But, saints' heavenly bodies will not be like Peter's earthly body. Saints will walk on God's living waters without sinking.

In this example, Christ confirms that saints, by faith, are able to walk on water. Normally; you wouldn't have a problem with Christ walking on water. He's a miracle worker who can do anything. But how do you explain the fact that Peter walked on water a few steps and superseded the laws of water in his natural body?

Peter walked on water by the law of faith and God's power. He was in his natural body when he walked a few steps on water. Now if God can give Peter power to supersede the physical laws of water in his natural body, He can certainly give saints power to supersede the physical laws of water in their heavenly bodies.

Jesus revealed to Peter that the thing that was holding him back from walking on water without sinking was his lack of faith in the omnipotent power of God. (Matt 14:31). Peter's faith wasn't fully developed to the point where he could walk on water without sinking.

Saints' bodies will be fashioned like unto Christ's glorious body. (Phil 3:21). Since saints' bodies will be fashioned like Christ's body, they'll walk on God's living waters the same as Christ did.

So, God is not finished developing saints' faith to its maximum potential as it's going to be in the new world. Saints should not try to walk on water and endanger their lives before God finishes perfecting their faith. (Heb 12:2).

Conclusively, saints must be patient and wait until they receive their heavenly bodies so that they can have fun frolicking on the surfaces of beautiful lakes and ponds.

Saints will walk under God's living waters

What you would think if I told you that in the new world, saints will not only walk on the surface of the waters, but they'll also walk under the waters. That's right. In the new world to come, saints will not be subject to the physical laws of water. For, God gave them (man and woman) dominion over the works of His hands. (PS 8:4-6). This, of course, includes oceans, seas, rivers, lakes, ponds, etc. (Gen 1:26-28).

Through Jonah, God gave us a natural realm example to confirm and to help us understand that saints will indeed supersede the physical laws of God's living waters in the new world to come.

Jonah was supposed to go to Nineveh and preach to the people of Nineveh. But, Jonah boarded a ship going in the opposite direction toward Tarshish. (Jonah 1:1-3). Because of Jonah's disobedience, God caused a mighty tempest to rise up over the sea that started breaking up the ship. (Jonah 1:4).

The sailors were afraid. They blamed Jonah for the storm. (Jonah 1:10-12). Failing to get the ship back to the shore safely, they decided to cast Jonah into the sea to God's living waters to save themselves. (Jonah 1:12-15).

But, God had a plan to deliver Jonah. God prepared a great fish to save Jonah. The fish swallowed Jonah into its belly for 3 days and 3 nights and delivered him from the physical laws of the waters. (Jonah 1:17, 2:10).

Through Jonah's troubles in the sea (Jonah 2:3-6), God shows us that in spite of the power of His mighty waters, God (who cannot lie: Heb 6:18) gave man and woman dominion over the physical laws of water. Let's take a closer look at Jonah's plight.

In the throes of the physical laws of God's living waters, Jonah found himself drowning. The sea was about to become Jonah's grave.

Jonah's prayer of thanksgiving in the fish's belly (Jonah 2:1-2, 7) reveals that in the midst of the sea, by faith, Jonah, prayed that God would deliver him from the physical laws of water. God answered his prayer and delivered him from the physical laws of His living waters. For the great fish delivered Jonah out of its belly onto dry land. (Jonah 2:10). So, Jonah (in his natural body) was able to supersede the physical laws of water.

Jonah's natural body would not succumb to the physical laws of water. (Jonah 2:3-7). Sinking to the bottom of the sea; suffocating with death staring him in the face, Jonah's body could not be subdued by the physical laws of water. No matter how hard it tried, the power of the raging sea could not take dominion over Jonah's natural body.

Now, if by faith, God gave Jonah power to supersede the physical laws of His living waters in his natural body, then God can certainly give saints power to supersede the physical laws of water in their heavenly bodies.

For that which God gave man and woman dominion over (i.e., the waters) cannot take dominion over them. God gave man and woman dominion over the works of His hands (Ps 8:4-6), which includes the oceans, seas, rivers, lakes, ponds, ect.

Consider the fishes of the sea that dwell in water. They get the oxygen they need for survival from the living waters they inhabit. So, they have no problem dwelling in water.

That said, think about us. All of us have already dwelled in water before. So, existing in water shouldn't be anything new to us. By God's divine design, we dwelled very comfortably submersed in the water (i.e., the amniotic fluid) of our mothers' wombs. Our lungs for breathing weren't even fully developed, buy yet we survived in water with no problem.

While fully submersed in amniotic fluid, a baby (fetus) receives all the oxygen and nutrients it needs for survival from its mother's blood stream. Oxygen and nutrients from its mother's blood stream are transferred to the baby's blood stream through the placenta and umbilical cord.

Throughout this transfer process, the mother's blood never touches or mixes with the baby's blood. So, the baby moves and has its being while fully submersed in water.

So, we've all dwelled in water before and superseded its physical laws. If we receive Christ as our Savior, we'll move and have our being under God's waters again. That is, our heavenly bodies will supersede the physical laws of God's waters.

So, is there anything too hard for God? Of course not! With God, all things are possible. (Lk 1:37, Matt 19:26, Mk 9:23).

Thus, in the new world, saints will supersede the physical laws of the oceans, seas, rivers, etc. They'll walk, frolic and eat lunch on the surface of the waters.

They'll even walk under water on sea floors while observing the beautiful scenery. As they walk under God's living waters (oceans, seas, rivers, etc), they'll pet fishes and caress sharks. In the new world, saints will indeed enjoy living the good life! Praise the Lord!
