"The odds of you experiencing a muscle strain over the span of your life are very high, simply because there are countless muscles that you use on a daily basis. None of the three major types of muscles are immune to being injured as there are a wide range of stresses that they have to deal with at the same time.
The bulk of your muscles are skeletal and they are the ones that are most susceptible to muscle strain. This is because they cause motion, and this movement is what leaves them vulnerable to being pulled or torn. The muscles that are less apt to become damaged are inside of your heart (cardiac) and in your stomach lining (smooth).
The link between skeletal muscles and bones are you tendons, and this makes them very important. Countless minute fibers make up your muscles and provide aid in all of your movements by contracting. The bones in your body would never be able to move if these fibers were not present around them.
When the fibers encounter more resistance than they are able to withstand a muscle strain occurs; the severity of the injury depends on how excessive the force is. This can be caused by weightlifting, contact sports or simply becoming active without stretching enough beforehand. Folks that put a lot of stress on their bodies regularly are more at risk of being injured; this theory rings true in the case of athletes in particular.
However, people who are not athletes are not entirely safe from tearing their muscles; this can occur in rare instances when you are running or even walking in a direct line. Horizontal movements are more likely to get you injured, especially if you make them in haste without preparing yourself. Take care when jumping, rolling, diving and when participating in activities where these actions are necessary; this is when you are most disposed to hurting yourself.
When your fibers are unable to deal with resistance and tear, muscle strain treatment is required to repair them. Although it is not a firm rule, it usually does not take as long to rehabilitate one torn fiber as opposed to several of them. If you ever get hurt, go to a physician or a clinic as soon as possible to get yourself thoroughly checked out; the time you take from your schedule initially will free up a lot more later on (because you will be starting your rehab sooner)."
