3 Ways to Generate Future Proof Traffic From Combined Search Marketing

Here you are. About to read some wicked adventure about tapping into some future proof traffic. You know the stuff that's usually about the evergreen traffic, that does nothing but grow, convert, and add revenue to your bottom line.

Hogwash is what I say, because folks are still spreading the rumors of putting links out through software, building satellite sites, putting a tiara around your main site. (tiered link building) and using different IPs to mask the fact you built the links yourself.

My own story started way back in the year 2010, when admittedly I did do much of the strategic SEO stuff. Great fun, but with a ton of sites, it took a lot of work. Work to continually generate short term traffic with not much growth.

Traffic came, they went, sometimes returned, although most of the time not. With a sale in approximately every 70 or so unique hits, it wasn't something I was comfortable doing SEM with. Therefore it was continuing the search manipulation, rather than the search optimization.

It still amazes me how many people have those two things back to front.

Looking at the search zoo giants and their panda guarding gate keepers in today's search market, things have changed a whacky lot since back then.

Is it any wonder though?

Test your memory and cast your mind back to that time. The time when you take an article spinner, hit a button and synonyms would be replaced wherever possible. The idea of unique content ruled the waves.

Sure the usual "quality content" jargon surrounding the content marketing space persisted, but for the SEOers... content marketing was nothing more than a link building exercise.

For many of us, it was easy, and for some they used the ease to work into the local industry. Google places helped that industry grow massively (in my own opinion that is). I say that because they marketed that like heck.

Ever notice the way search engines expand? It's like they realize they've made an underestimation of something after they roll it out, and end up chasing their own tails around their phantom zoo. Like the Google Plus social platform using the author tag. The only attraction that was, was for webmasters globally to flock to it.

Boom goes the search results when that got spammed to death. How could you not see that one coming. Hindsight's a great thing.

Back they bounced back with a roll out for content farming. Directories this time got it, because, well, more than likely because marketers were link baiting through them to manipulate search results.

Density, anchor text, diversification, linking types, social signals and all the rest of it.

It's no wonder that many a business is struggling to keep their head above the water in the complex times that search brings.

It doesn't have to be like that as you only need to know the three cornerstones of SEO.

Before you go scratching your head about link building, thinking the sky's falling and SEO is cooked... let me just explain those three cornerstones of marketing.

Let's talk attraction marketing.

Do you drop a business card in a nightclub, hoping someone gorgeous is going to call you?

No!

You dress yourself up, get some sexy scents splashed about and you set about drawing attraction to you, and picking up that way.

Do the same with marketing. Don't drop your links anywhere as you'll never know what you're picking up.

The relationship building part is done through communication. You've heard of blog commenting right? Have you done it? Maybe so, but did you go back to the site, to see if there was a comment there? Most don't, and that's because their commenting for links. Not for the relationship building part of marketing.

As for the link building part.

When you have the relationship building alongside the attraction marketing perspective in place, you're going to have very little link building to do.

Future proof traffic is when you're link building is done for you by your clients, customers, and even your competitors when you contribute value to the market.
