How to Throw the Ultimate Party
Everybody loves a party with a happy atmosphere…
Regardless of the reason for throwing a party, you want to make sure it is fun and people enjoy themselves. This article looks at some of the things you need to consider when planning an event and how you can create an ambience that you and your guests will enjoy.

Invites

Choose who you want to invite to your party carefully. Think about who will help create the atmosphere you want at your party. Do you want stimulating debate about culture and politics or a raucous and boisterous event full of high jinx?

You should consider the mix of people, try to invite people that will gel together well and are a good mix of different characters, maybe think about the gender ratio and age range. Are there any undesirables that you want to exclude from the event or people that might not get on or create an air of tension, perhaps a couple that have recently split up? Do you really want the ambiance of a great evening ruined by not being selective enough about who you invite?

Food and Drink

Regardless of the type of party, it is likely that you will want to enjoy some nice food or drink. You should think about what is most appropriate to the type of party and your budget.

If it is a dinner party the host may be expected to cook for everyone, or if you don't want to supply food for everyone you could suggest that all the guests make something to go in a buffet and bring it along. If it's the summer and you have the space you could have a BBQ. Maybe your crowd is the type that will relish the thought of getting a takeaway pizza after a few drinks, or do you want to keep it casual with a few nibbles? What ever the situation you should make sure that invitees are aware of the situation before they come along.

Similar principles apply to alcohol. No one should be forced to consume alcohol, but should be free to do so if they choose, providing they can act responsibly. Can you afford to provide drinks for everyone, or is it better to suggest that they bring their own?

Entertainment

They key criteria for a successful party is fun. Your party will be legendary if you can provide some entertainment that will help people enjoy themselves. Again, this depends on the type of party you want.

If you intend to throw a lively shindig, music is a good way to encourage people to have fun and enjoy a dance. Rather than rely on putting together mix CDs or playlists on computers you could go the extra mile and have someone else provide the music. This needn't be expensive either, you might have friends that are in cover bands or are DJs for weddings that could provide some entertainment.

If you are hoping for a more sombre event then something that provokes interesting conversation will be more appropriate. Playing games can also help vitalize the pleasure levels.
