Tips on Creating Personalized Greeting Cards

by Brad Kartel

Greeting cards are very popular because they provide anyone a medium to express one’s thoughts, feelings, and care for another. Especially personalized greeting cards, these often make not only the sender appreciate what they’ve done, but most especially, it makes the recipient feel special and singled out.

And print greeting cards are not just for personal use; but they are also becoming an effective marketing tool for businesses. Why? Because with greeting cards, you, as a business owner can provide your target clients with a personal way of getting in touch with them to let them feel that they are special for you. It is no surprise then that many business owners and marketers resort to personalized greeting cards to make them recognized and unforgettable with their customers and target clients.

Creating a greeting card is actually easy. Your design for your print greeting cards can make you memorable and unforgettable to your target readers. You can apply comical and humorous elements to make your personalized greeting cards eye catching and memorable. You can also go formal if that’s what your target readers are expecting from a business like yours. The bottom line is to create a design that is not only personal to your type of business, but more importantly, to your target recipients.

Here are more ways you can create greetings cards that are unique and mesmerizing to your target readers:

a. Provide your greeting cards with pictures. Always remember that a picture is worth a hundred thousand words. Well, I’m exaggerating a bit here but you know what I mean. If you can’t say it all in words and text, use pictures to convey your thoughts. Studies have shown that pictures get more attention as they make it easier for people to get the point right away, as compared to a number of text and words. People actually get bored right away with words if they get forced to read all of them in a small amount of time. So if you want your target readers to be interested in your message, try to say it in pictures and you can get an easier time of convincing them of your offer.

b. Provide a design that THEY want. Of course, you would want your target clients to like your design in your greeting cards; hence, you would want to give them something that would catch their eye. You definitely would want to provide them with something that they would want. This means that your target recipients are the main characters here, not you. You give them what they want, and they’ll give you what you need in return.

So experiment with different designs that would make it easier for your greeting cards to attract the attention of your target readers. In fact, provide them in different themes. This way, you are giving your target clients with personalized greeting cards that would tell your recipients that you really took the time and effort to provide each one of them with a greeting card that shows you appreciate the business they gave you.

c. Provide a theme according to the occasion and season. You would get more attention if you try to match your design with the current season or special occasion being celebrated. People would expect to have Christmas cards in December. So give them what they expect; and you’ll have a much easier time of getting them to read your message in your print greeting cards.

So choose your design elements wisely for your greeting card marketing. Your design can help you connect with your target readers in a way that makes them feel special and cherished; hence, more chances for you to convince them of your value.
