Olivier Theyskens’, the Brussels-born prince of darkness, is best known for his ethereal aesthetic. He started out as a designer for Rochas and Nina Ricci. Ever since, he has always attracted celebrities and fashion big wigs by the likes of Madonna. They adored his dark yet romantic signature that combined his very accessible nature with dark sartorial passion. The designer loves to conceptualize different types of clothing. And he feels truly ecstatic by the idea of working and dressing up a younger generation.
Theyskens’ recently joined the New York based fashion line “Theory” to form Theyskens’ Theory. A lot of fashion experts presume that he would be making lots of leather biker jacket with a more modern twist on it. The designer describes his customer as “any woman with taste.” With that said, it’s safe to expect for pieces that are cool but not pretentious.
The big change is yet to begin. Many of us associate the old Theory brand with comfortable everyday clothing. Theirs were clothes that we could wear to corporate events, job interviews, work presentations, and other business functions. While women loved the brand for their quality and fit, many believed that their designs lacked cutting-edge masterpieces. Their clothes were forgettable and yes, a little boring.
With Theyskens’ taking on the role as creative director for the brand, everything is about to change. His role is said to promise the much-needed excitement to the brand’s everyday comfort and wearability.
The new Theyskens’ Theory is bound to take a wind out of fashion philosophy. The designer calls the capsule collection as “his point of view.” It combines the Gothic tone of his name, the romantic feel of Rochas, and the sporty melancholy of Nina Ricci. It also fits very comfortably with the general look of the old Theory brand. Most of the pieces are designed with longevity. Do not expect grandiose fantasy ball gowns. The jackets feature notches cut out. The trousers sit nicely on the hips looking full and fluid. The tops have buttonless cuffs as if they were intentionally designed so that the front can be tucked into the trousers with the tails hanging out.
In short, Theyskens’ Theory will give you the comfort that you need every day and the vixen’s spunk that will make yourself standout.
