Window shutters or plantation shutters are made door that open and close inside or over a window openings. Window shutters have louvers that also open and close allowing views and privacy. There are three types of window shutters or plantation shutters. First is the faux wood, second is the composite wood and lastly are the real wood shutters.
The faux wood window shutters are made of 100% PVC and are hollow. They are very affordable, damage proof and waterproof. Advantages are lifetime warranty, ease of repair, and cost. The disadvantages include plastic look, possible discoloration.
The composite window shutters are made of a wood and PVC mixture. Advantages are cost, looks more like wood and lifetime warranty. Disadvantages include heaviness, small color selection, and difficulty in repairs.
The last type of window shutters is the real wood shutter. Advantages are stains, lightness and original look. Disadvantages include warping and price.
