Are You Prepared for Unexpected Opportunities?

As we go about our daily routines and struggles, sometime it is hard to think about the many opportunities that may come our way. In fact, even though we all know that life can change in an instant, we often push that thought to the very backs of our mind. We are almost afraid to think about what we would do if an unexpected opportunity came our way.

There are lots of opportunities that can happen any time. In fact, we are presented with opportunities for growth every day at both a personal and professional level.

How many times were you given an opportunity to show unexpected kindness to a driver or pedestrian on your way to work this morning? How many interactions with people during the day gave you an opportunity to show patience and understanding? How many opportunities were you given to be helpful? Capitalizing on these opportunities (rather than thinking of them as interruptions or annoyances), can help us grow personally.

What if you had an unexpected financial opportunity? If you were given a large sum of money, do you know what you would do with it? We all dream of the "things" we could buy with a great deal of money, but would that be the best thing to do? Do you have the discipline to save or invest the money or would you just go out a spend it all?

By using opportunities wisely you can grow your business as well as your personal life. Every interaction can be viewed as an opportunity. It is important to use these opportunities but maybe even more important to recognize the fact that it is an opportunity.

For example, if you are standing in line waiting with a group of people and someone asks you the time, it might be a good time to start talking with them. After all, neither one of you is going anywhere nor they talked to you first. You never know where such a conversation will lead. If nothing else, it is more interesting that just standing there.

Opportunities are always around us. Don't let them pass you by!

"Don't wait for extraordinary opportunities. Seize common occasions and make them great. Weak men wait for opportunities; strong men make them." Orison Swett Marden

"Learn everything you can, anytime you can, from anyone you can - there will always come a time when you will be grateful you did." Sarah Caldwell
