Fear of Heights And Hot Air Ballooning
If you suffer from a fear of heights, then you may dread hot air ballooning. Some of you might long to do it though, and may wonder how you can possibly go that high up in the sky with such a fear. There are many ways to combat this fear and have a successful balloon ride even with a fear.
There are many reasons you would want to go on a hot air balloon ride, even with a fear of heights. It is one of the most exhilarating yet peaceful and tranquil experiences you can have, with stunning views over miles and a chance to feel at one with the landscape.
Things to remember before flying
The equipment is top of the range, and has to pass countless safety tests before being allowed to be used. The pilot also has to go through years and hundreds of hours of training before being allowed to take people up in a balloon. You are in safe hands. You also don't have to worry about weather as the flight will be cancelled even if it is slightly too windy.
If You Start To Feel Panicked
If you start to feel panicked when the balloon starts to rise, just remember to breathe, and try to centre yourself. Shift your focus and take note of the landscape around you. Focus on the view and the peacefulness and serenity of drifting through the sky, rather than the fact you're high up from the ground.
Worrying About Safety
If you're not so worried about heights but worried about an accident, please don't let this determine whether or not you take a balloon ride. There have been very few accidents in the entire history of ballooning, so the chance you are involved in one is minimal to nil. You will be in very safe hands when flying, with a very experience pilot and a car down below to follow the balloon to where it ends up.
Make The Most Of It
Whether you have a fear of heights or just the balloon ride itself, remember that this is a true once in a lifetime experience that you probably won't have again. Make the most of it, have fun, take as many photos as possible, and go home with plenty of stories to tell your friends and family. The last thing you want to tell them is that you couldn't go up or hid your eyes the whole flight.
