Yoga instructor insurance provides valuable protection

by Nacams Team

The professional yoga teacher has the opportunity to translate a student’s actions into feeling great on the inside as well.

That said, it is still important to note that the tools of the yoga instructor’s trade could indeed become hazardous, if they fall into the wrong hands or if an unexpected scenario occurs and accident happens. Thankfully, yoga teacher insurance exists to provide a safety net for these rare, but possible, occurrences.

Of course, this does not mean that, as a professional yoga teacher, you simply purchase your yoga instructor liability insurance and then promptly forget all about basic safety measures inside your business. First and foremost, basic safety practices need to be firmly in place before any yoga teacher begins taking on clients.

Instead of serving as a “catch all” for possible safety hazards, yoga liability insurance services as protection against those unpredictable situations that few basic safety practices could ever prevent. For example, your studio could be completely free of obstacles and have plenty of preventive safety measures in place, yet a client might still end up tripping over the door jamb.

These things do happen. Usually, it is no big deal, and the client laughs it off after stumbling into the studio. Sometimes, though, tripping over a door jamb results in a broken wrist or another type of more serious injury. In these instances, if the client were to decide to sue you for the damages or injury, that is when you begin to see the rock solid value of a yoga teacher liability insurance policy.

In the scenario outlined above, the “trip and fall” portion of your yoga teacher liability insurance policy would kick in to provide coverage. Technically known as general liability insurance, this aspect of your policy serves to offer protection against any kind of “trip, slip or fall” type accident that might occur on the property of your yoga teacher business.

There are several other incredibly important modes of coverage that will come with the right yoga teacher insurance as well. These include professional or malpractice liability coverage and product liability coverage. The first is there to provide protection in case a client claims damage or injury due to a lack of skill or competence on your part. The second is there to offer coverage if a client decides to sue for damage or injury, stating that a product used by her yoga teacher caused the damage or injury.

It is hard to imagine either of these occurrences taking place, but yoga insurance exists specifically to provide protection against those scenarios you never thought possible. Keep practicing your standard safety protocol, but be sure to secure the broad safety net of yoga teacher liability insurance as well.
