Star Wars: The Old Republic Species Guide

by Candice F. Harris

Star Wars: The Old Republic has quite a selection of races and class combinations to choose from which can be confusing remembering which race belonging to which class. However, it must be kept in mind that there are some racial class restrictions, but not much as other MMO's. In fact, there are several "neutral" races in SWTOR rather than the traditional method of binding each specific race to one faction alone.

If you're wondering which classes can, at this point, play as a certain race or faction, this article and other http://www.swtorguide.net can help you decide exactly which combinations are likely to be available.

Races Available:

Chiss: Mysterious, blue-skinned and red eyed humanoid race that supports the Empire. Imperial Agent Bounty Hunter

Zabrak: Determined, fierce horned humans with heavy facial tattoos. Trooper Smuggler Jedi Consular Sith Inquisitor Jedi Knight Sith Warrior

Twi'lek: Used as slaves because of their exotic looks and easily recognizable for their head-tails. Smuggler Jedi Knight Jedi Consular Sith Inquisitor

Human: One of the most diverse and common races found in the galaxy. All classes available

Sith: Warlike descendants of the original Sith race drawn to the dark side of the Force. Sith Inquisitor Sith Warrior

Cyborg: Humans with specialized cybernetic implants. Trooper Bounty Hunter Sith Warrior Smuggler Imperial Agent

Mirialan: Green skinned humanoids with incredible agility and determination. Jedi Knight Jedi Consular Trooper Smuggler

Miraluka: Descendants of humans who see using the Force and defend justice. Jedi Knight Jedi Consular

Rattataki: White skinned, warlike gladiators and survivors. Bounty Hunter Sith Inquisitor

With some of the racial faction and class restrictions also comes some limitations as to which starting planets a few playable races will see. For example, players who select the Chiss as their race will only start on Hutt, while Sith players will always begin on Korriban and Miraluka will always start on Tython.

Note: According to many Star Wars: The Old Republic guides, these combinations are subject to change after official game release.
