Ear Buzzing: 3 Steps for Finding the Quiet You Deserve
As many as 1 in 10 American men and women suffer from a condition known as tinnitus. This condition is often described as a sort of ear buzzing, ringing, humming, or pulsating that may or may not be altering the way they live their lives. Some folks actually have it so bad that they have great difficulty sleeping, working, or even enjoying a meal, and therefore all kinds of personal, professional, and health problems can arise.
Of course, ear buzzing tinnitus affects different people in different ways. While I have heard of countless cases of people being fired from their jobs for inability to concentrate, significant family problems based on their inability to cope (they end up getting mean and short-tempered)... and even people who have gotten into car accidents, developed eating disorders, and a few instances where they resorted to suicide... most tinnitus sufferers are able to go through their days without too much trouble.
But no matter how mild or severe your particular case of ear buzzing may be, I think I would be safe in assuming that you'd rather NOT be dealing with it. And I don't blame you. Because of its often incessant nature, it can be as annoying as having someone tap you in the same spot over and over again, or a child saying the same thing repeatedly for seemingly endless spans of time. No good.
So if getting rid of your ear buzzing is something you are interested in doing, please pay special attention to the following 3 steps. Everyone who suffers from tinnitus will need to take these same steps, and the sooner you get to it, the better. This is not only true in terms of finding a solution for these annoying phantom noises, but also for potentially discovering - and treating - a potentially serious underlying cause. 306
Ear Buzzing: 3 Steps for Finding the Quiet You Deserve
1. Document your symptoms. Is it, in fact, a buzzing in your ears... or more of a high-pitch ringing? How loud is it? Is it affecting both ears, or just one? How long has it been going on? When did it start?
2. List potential causes based on your own life. Do you fire guns? Are you in a band or do you regularly attend concerts? Do you clean your ears regularly? Do you take drugs, prescription or otherwise? Are you a heavy drinker? What is your usual level of stress?
3. Go to a doctor and get diagnosed. A proper diagnosis is everything when it comes to treating tinnitus. There are so many variables surrounding causation that you really need to narrow it down before you can effectively undergo any treatment plan.
