This Article Will Help You Overcome Writer's Block

by Paul Tobey

One of the fundamental detours in the creative process has always been the excuse used by many a "would-be" writer and it's called; writer's block.

Many people blame it on distraction, overwhelming time constraints or even a lack of inspiration. Be that as it may, if you are to change your outcome and get "unstuck" you're going to need a system.

Here's a system that I've devised that not only works really well. The actual proof is that I've used it to create this article in less than 20 minutes. There are many others that I've helped learn it who are getting the same result.

1.Choose a topic that you can describe from experience. If you've heard about it, read about it or talked about it, you don't know it.

When you write from experience you don't have to research and you don't have to think, you just have to write down a series of events or lessons that you've learned. For example, I am using my experience to write this article based on being able to write something that has value and do it in a short amount of time.

2.Clear out any mind created negative limiting beliefs that you are not a good writer or that you even have writer's block.

To change something you must first acknowledge it and then choose to change it. Be OK with being stuck but be prepared to overcome it with a system. Say a mantra to yourself that no matter what the outcome, you'll follow through with intent.

If you don't have your own mantra here's one that you could say to yourself out loud.

"In and easy and relaxed manner, In a healthy and positive way, In its own good time, For the highest good of all, I desire __________ (insert want) to come into my life and into the lives of all those you hold this same intention. This or something better."

3.Get clear on what you want. In other words create a virtual goal that is attainable yet risky. Pick a 90 day goal for your work to pay off and it will keep you motivated to carry out the have-to's.

4.Don't edit your thoughts. When you speak from experience think about what were the steps that you took to get a result. Good or bad you still took steps. Sometimes you want to help others avoid the mistakes you've made and that makes good content as well.

Set yourself a time limit of 25 minutes and don't edit your thoughts as you write. Don't fix spelling or grammar, that comes later.

5.After 25 minutes, get up and walk away. Whether that is for 5 min or 5 days, come back when your intent is clear.

Spend 5 minutes and edit your original thoughts, fix any grammar or spelling or even if you have time, add some ideas that you didn't think of the first time.

The end result of this system will be to create at least 500 words in less than 30 minutes. If you count the number of words in this article it will easily be above 500 words and it was written and edited in less than 15 minutes. You should easily be able to do it in 30 minutes.

The essential goal of this process is to get unstuck and jump start the creative process by using a proven system for writing an article of significant value in a short amount of time.

Try it. Otherwise, you won't know if it works or not. If you come up a little short, at say... 400 words then you'll know that you need to practice the system a little bit more.

If you want to become a great writer you'll have to practice. Writer's block is the act of 'not' practising.

One thing is for certain, if you don't adopt a new more empowering system than the one you've got, you'll keep getting the same results.
