As of 2014, IT training has become as essential as learning math and English in the United States. This skill can be an effective tool for people interested in reinventing themselves or rebuilding their career. It is may also be vital in giving students the power to create more opportunities for themselves in the future. Computer science is often regarded as the most valuable degree to have as the world has become more inundated in the digital age.

There are now successful coders of all ages and demographics-- from seniors to minors, including people living in third-world countries with limited access to resources. Outside of pursuing an ungraduated degree for computer science, there are a variety of different ways to learn coding in a relatively short amount of time. Some of the IT topics that students can learn about include cloud computing, big data, cyber security, oracle databases, and business analysis. Developing skills for project management, web development, software development and Linux may be essential in acquiring a high paying salary in one of the fastest growing industries in the world.

People who were laid-off or were unable to find work due to the Great Recession may benefit immensely from learning coding and computer programming. Veterans, retirees and stay-at-home moms are just some of the different types of people who are beginning to realize the benefits of learning these technical skills. Many people have found that learning to code can serve as the fast track to becoming a high-paid software engineer, opposed to taking the time to earn an undergraduate degree in computer science.

Many IT students are able to design and manage websites, create mobile apps, develop and monitor security systems or streamline business operations by creating an interface module specified to a clients' particular goals. People who understand IT have more option in terms of working independently as an entrepreneur or working for a top-tier corporation. IT personal are becoming increasing valuable to businesses of all sizes around the world. IT staff are typically the individuals who have the knowledge to turn a local brick-and-mortar into a global enterprise in a matter of weeks.

Many veterans have received additional IT training to help participate in programs that help improve missions of national security. Some seniors are learning about IT to stay active, while others are interested in generating passive income during their retirement. In addition, many seniors who learning about IT in order to improve their ability to re-enter the workforce. People with IT skills can work in nearly any industry there is. Acquiring IT skills are becoming more important for current employees in growing industries like the healthcare sector, telecom and retail.

IT people may have more opportunities to travel, work remotely on flexible schedules or work from home. In 2014, developing IT skills has become one of the most surefire ways to increase the opportunities available and improve quality of life for the long-term. Information technology and computer systems may quickly become the pen and pad of the future for the most elementary students. We have already entered an era where preschoolers are routinely using tablets to learn, read and play games. Ultimately, understanding IT may be the key to staying ahead of the curve as the world accelerates deeper into the digital age.
