Unless the doctor suggests it, there shouldn't be any reason for a pregnant woman to take additional iron supplements. A woman can also try to get enough iron through the food she eats. A few of the foods in which this mineral is present include, lean, red meat and nuts, tomatoes, spinach, prunes, beans, fortified cereals and molasses. This supplement is vitamin C, present in most foods that people already eat on a daily basis. Things that have Vitamin C include many fruits and vegetables such as, citrus, peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, sweet potatoes and pineapple. Women have to take steps to guarantee that they get enough iron on a daily basis. Eating a diet rich in it or taking a multivitamin which includes it on two options for getting enough of the mineral. Taking a supplement is very important during pregnancy, as the baby needs it to produce hemoglobin for oxygen and for use in the cells of the body. Low Iron intake can lead to anemia and other health problems in women.
