Losing Weight With A Pair Of Roller Blades

Losing weight can be a major challenge, but it it can also be quite fun. I think one of the funnest and easiest ways of losing weight for me has been roller blading. Although I live in Nebraska now, I was fortunate to have grown up in San Diego, California. While studying for a masters degree in education (something I still need to finish...but not convinced I ever WILL finish), I went home to San Diego for the summer. One of the things I liked to do after work was go the "bayside" of Mission Beach and roller blade for about 30-45 by the water. Not only was this enjoyable, but in a period of apporximately eight weeks, I lost about 12 pounds! Not only did I lose about 12 pounds, but I looked like I had been working out at the gym with weights...not bad for doing something that I enjoyed. I did this about 3 to 4 times a week.

If you do decide that roller blading would be a way you'd like to start losing weight, please be careful, since roller blading can be very dangerous - I personally have never fallen down while doing it, but have had many close calls, and have known people who have broken bones roller blading. Try to avoid roller blading in places that are very "hilly"...you don't want find yourself heading down hill towards a bunch of traffic, and unable to stop, and on that note, its best to be familair with the "course" so to speak, where you are roller blading, and try to roller blade on a paved recreational trail where there is no traffic. Also, wear protective gear, and as always, see a physician before starting any exercise program.

If you don't have a pair of roller blades, I DO NOT recommend that you purchase a pair online unless you have no other choice, because they may not fit correctly, and you may be tempted to go roller balding in a pair that doesn't fit. BAD IDEA. I think its also a much better idea to spend the extra money to get a QUALITY pair of roller blades instead of a cheap pair. Quality roller blades will usually give you much better ankle support, and will also be more comfortable. You can get a descent pair of roller blades for about $75-150.

Finally, if you are looking for effective ways of losing weight, I highly recommend Tom Venuto's ebook called "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle". Its got A LOT of quality information on losing weight, and I don't think there is any a better losing weight resource on the internet. A close second is Fat Loss 4 Idiots, which teaches a similar, but less detailed approach to Tom Venuto's ebook.
