These events and festivals take place only a short distance into Baja, Mexico. However, you will still need a passport to enter Baja, a law that changed in 2009. If you drive to Baja, you won't need to get a vehicle import permit for your auto since it is in the Mexico Free Zone. You will still need to purchase Mexican auto insurance, however, and this is best done online before you leave to avoid delays at the border. These May events are just around the corner, so start planning now!
