The 3 New Year's Resolution For All Couples This Year

by Andrea Carless

We often make new year's resolutions for ourselves, that sometimes we forget to include our significant others in it. This year, for a change, in addition to your own, personal new year's resolution; you and your significant other should make a new year's resolution list together and try to accomplish it this year. When the past year has been a bad year for the both of you and you haven't seen any significant changes in your relationship; change it this year- for the better. Making this together will help build your relationship more and strengthen your bond as the days fly past. So here is a new year's resolution list for you couples out there:

1. Eat healthier. As a couple, especially if you are still young adults, it's very easy for both of you to just cozy up to each other; eat fast food or junk food while watching your favorite shows on the couch. It's not only a bad and unhealthy habit that will just gain you excess weight and fat but you'll miss out on having fun, sharing intimacy with each other while cooking and thinking of good recipes in the kitchen. Now, this year, instead of the fast food deliveries, junk foods and what not while being cozy in the couch, you can start picking up healthy recipes, do food shopping and cook it together. Who knows, you may not know that you partner is a talented cook. This helps you to watch out on your diet and be more careful with your food preferences. What better way to eat healthy than doing it together, right?

2. Work out together. When you do things together, like something good for your relationship, I mean other than being intimate and hanging out, you can get to establish something better with your partner. Doing exercise together is a good way to improve your overall health and physical performance, also, this becomes better when you support each other. It's just quite disappointing for you if you have a fit and trim body but your partner lacks otherwise. Well, a great way to get him started is when you exercise together instead of nagging him to do it.

3. Stop petty arguments and squabbles. It's very easy to retaliate or start a squabble over the most minor issues; this year is the year for you to start avoiding these petty arguments no matter how much you wanted to just shout in your partner's face. It's said that arguments are healthy, that is if it doesn't happen everyday or whenever you two meet. Okay, these small fights, hurling insults and unnecessary comments are no big deal, right? But in the long run, they can slowly erode the foundations of the relationship both of you had established. When you see an argument coming from small issues, then keep calm, be open minded and as yourself, "is this worth it?". If not then be more understanding, it won't work if both of you raise your voices. Stick to having a peaceful relationship, be the more patient one and just give your partner the benefit of the doubt, let him rant, he'll be sorry he did it later.

There are no perfect couples, there are no perfect people; this is a brand new year and a good start for you and your partner. Let is be a good start for you and your relationship, be more open to each other. Instead of criticising your partner and finding fault which you'll regret later? It's healthy for both of you. Do healthy, relevant things together and you'll be surprised to unveil a part of you and your partner you weren't even aware of. Have a better and healthier year ahead as a couple.
