Health Services With Field Surgical Hospitals
With only a small fraction of GDP being spent for health care and medical services in India, there is definitely a need for revival. The Indian Health Services have been set up for this purpose. Its principal aim is to raise the amount of medical facilities for Indians. Being an operational division under U.S. Department it also takes care of health of Alaska Natives and Indians in States. Credit goes to Bureau of Indian Affairs for its formation of this health body in 1955. This has grown out of the special relationship between federal government and Indian tribes. The U.S. government contributes $4 billion for different health care programmes. The end result is of course healthier Indian communities.
The Indian Health Services family is constituted by 900 physicians, 2700 nurses, 300 dentists in the top layer. Other contains 500 chemists and 400 engineers. Overall family members range to a total of 15,000. It should be admitted that Indians are preferred for employment here. The Native Alaskans and the Indians accounts to 71% of the employees here. The jobs are available in the remote areas. But space is available for only professionally trained persons. However in recent times the health care body has been suffering from inefficient management and inadequate funding which are not being able to meet its costs.
The health care facilities have now reached those people for whom such things had been a mere dream. It is also concerned with construction of sanitation facilities. But some necessary services are still unavailable. It covers the areas of Aberdeen, Alaska, California, Nashville, Navajo, Billings, Phoenix, Portland and Bemidji area. Investments in this body solely focus on increasing outputs achieved from health care. Courtesy of this health body, medical treatment costs far less than usual for Native Alaskans and American Indians.
Emergency medical services consist of field surgical hospitals which deliver treatment immediately to patients before they could be taken to permanent hospitals. Previously ambulances were only included in this category. In urban areas it has now surpassed the tag of just being ambulances by offering higher grade medical services.They are also set up in recent times in public buildings like schools and malls. Staffed with medical doctors they are equipped with mobile medical kit. During wars and other such events surgical field hospitals are also to provide emergency life saving surgeries for soldiers who else may have died on the way. Mobile Army Surgical Hospital and Combat Support Hospital are such types of field hospitals. In fact the concept originated from the battle field.
