Planning a Child's Slumber Party
Having friends over to spend the night can be a lot of fun for children of all ages. So, why not make the next slumber party even more fun? Find out some simple tips you can use to plan a fun slumber party without a lot of expense or time. Here are some tips you can use to add some fun to your child's next slumber party.
Fun Party Foods
Great snacks always seem to be an essential component of the traditional sleepover party. You can beat the time tested favorites of popcorn, cookies and pizza. However, you can add a bit more life to the party by having the kids participate in the snack making process. Make a big batch of pizza dough in advance then stock up on lots of pizza sauce, cheese and all the fixings so each kid can make their very own mini pizza. Or, make a big batch of cookie dough and let everyone take part in the cookie-making process. Make sure to take lots of pictures of them cooking because candid action shots are always fun to display in picture frames in your kitchen.
Choosing a Party Theme
If you think that party themes are just for birthday parties, then think again because they are great for slumber parties. You can add a whole lot more fun to your child's next sleepover by simply adding a theme. For example, a movie party theme can be a lot of fun. Pick out the movie you're going to watch in advance and then send out invitations that look like movie tickets. Try simulating a movie theater by arranging folding chairs in front of the television and then serve popcorn in paper bags and have a big bowl of movie candy. Decorate the room with movie posters displayed on the walls. If you can't buy posters of the movie you're going to watch, just make a few of your own. For teenage girls, a spa party can be a lot of fun or you can do a football party for boys when a big game is going to be on. You will undoubtedly find that just a bit of pre-planning can really add to the enjoyment of any sleepover party.
Planning Your Sleeping Accommodations
If you are inviting just one child over for the night, you probably will not have too much trouble devising comfortable sleeping arrangements. However, if you are planning a sleepover party for multiple children, you might have to get a bit more creative. Asking each child to bring a sleeping bag can be a good approach. You can also place chair or sofa cushions right on the floor to make some padded beds on the floor. Any unused mattress, futon or air mattress can all be used to add extra sleeping space for your guests. In most cases, you will want to find a way for everyone to sleep in the same room, as this is usually more fun for the kids. And make sure to take lots of photos during the party. Then print them, place in pretty small picture frames, and give one to each child as a fun memento of the party.
