The best time of year to visit is from May through September. For the southern coast, closer to the Mediterranean, that time is extended to April and October. The summer is when tourist season is at its highest. This is most noticeable in the coastal areas, the Peninsula and the mountain areas.

Its bullfights, as in the town of Ronda that has a bullfighting museum and the oldest bullring in the country. The bull run of Pamplona is known worldwide. About one million people arrive each year to watch the running with the bulls that ends with bullfights. It is part Pamplonas San Fermin Festival that occurs in July. To see an active volcano go to Tenerife. There is also Las Ramblas that has outdoor markets and live performances in Barcelona.
Another must see are the beaches. There are miles of coastline in two different waters. At the north is the Atlantic Ocean and at the south is the Mediterranean Sea. San Sebastian is a great city beach. Costa del Sol is beautiful with warm, calm waters of the south but is full of tourists. Costa Brava is near Valencia and has white sand and turquoise water. The Balearic Islands and Costa Verde have more rocky beaches.
One last bit of Spain travel advice is to see the spectacular castles. There are 2,500 of them to visit. They reflect different cultures that have existed as part of the vast history of Spain. Tours are available. When visiting remember the work day is divided and shops will not be open from 2:30 to 5:00 in the afternoon. This is the time for lunch and rest.
