Do You Really Need To Go On A Summer Holiday?
Holidays can be a waste of timeā¦
Every year, millions of people go on holiday. They pay a visit to their travel agent, pick which sunny destination they want to visit, pack their bags and jump on the plane. Many people spend their time lying in the sun baking their bodies, eating chips and drinking and maybe go and see some sights if there is a tour organised.

Unless you are going visit a particular destination there is no reason why you need to be in one location over another or even abroad at all, apart from maybe a slightly higher temperature. This kind of holiday is great for relaxing and getting a bit of sun on your skin, but the problem is also the cost. The price of flights and accommodation is rising, and when money is tight why not consider an alternative?

Stay At Work

Technically, you don't need to go on holiday. You could just stay at work and save up your holiday entitlement. You will look really dedicated and your bosses will be happy not to be an extra 'man' down during a typically busy period. You certainly do deserve a break but why not have a series of short breaks as opposed to using all your days up at once?

Have a 'Staycation'

You may have heard this word banded around as the economic vice closes on every household and it certainly is a good idea. Basically instead of traveling half way round the world to have a vacation, you take the same amount of time off, but just stay at home. You save thousands of pounds you would have spent on flights and accommodation. (Accommodation which would certainly not have been as nice as your own home.) You can have long lies, go out for nice walks, and maybe visit some local sights you haven't been to in a while, visit family or maybe even go to the beach.

Nearby Holiday Home

There are thousands of perfectly nice large holiday homes to rent in the UK which may only be a few hours away from your own home. You get all the feel of a holiday, for much less money, and with your home only a short distance away.

Time Share

If you have the cash to buy yourself a timeshare property, you can save up the time you have in your own property by not using it and instead saving it up to use at a later date. So in 5 years you would have 5 weeks free accommodation anywhere in the world. A good reason not to go on holiday this year?
