Global Domains International (GDI): Scam Or Legitimate Business Opportunity?

by Keith Kearney

Global Domains International, or GDI, was founded in 1999 by Michael Reed, CEO and Alan Ezeir, President who both recognized another opportunity that was largely ignored. The dot com boom that was so popular back in 1995 reached its peak around march of 2000. What Michael Reed and Alan Ezeir wondered was if there were other available extensions that businesses could use as a domain name. They ultimately focused on the domain extension .WS, which belonged to the tiny island nation of Samoa, deep in the South Pacific. They were able to execute a deal with Samoa stating they had to produce 15,000 registered domain .ws extensions in 3 years. Well they accomplished that goal in GDI’s 1st month of business and the rest as they say is history. In the 2002 Special issue of Inc. magazine, Global Domains International placed #37 on the Inc 500 magazine’s “List” of the USA’s 500 fastest growing private companies and #5 in the state of California. If you have come across any .ws adresses on the internet you can rest assured that they have been registered through Global Domains International, as GDI has single handedly captured the market share for the .ws extension. But what really puts the icing on the cake is the amazing business opportunity they have incorporated in to the equation.

As per normal with most MLM companies you will hear about people that have had bad experiences. “They keep charging my credit card,” “My upline won’t return my phone calls,” etc, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the company is at fault. You have to understand a few things. When you decide to join a multi level marketing company you are joining with the intentions on making a strong part time or full time income. But in order to achieve a strong income in business for yourself you need to know how to operate and run a successful business. Unfortunately 97% of people who join a company like GDI have no experience whatsoever running their own business, so naturally they begin to endure the pitfalls of many network marketing failures. Not to mention when you join a company of this size there’s bound to be unsatisfied customers. It’s near impossible to keep every one happy, as there’s just to much going on. I have heard of people specifically complaining about trying to cancel their GDI account but they continue getting billed, even after having sent multiple emails about cancelling. However if you read the cancellation policy which is made available to everyone, it clearly states that to cancel your account with GDI you must call in and talk to a rep to finalize the cancellation. It’s a very easy process that I have seen many go through but a hot head that doesn’t take the time to understand the policy can really bring down some heat on the company by claiming they have been taken advantage of. The bottom line is a company that has been in business since 1999 ranked ##37 on the inc 500 list and has provided more people with a six figure income would not be able to practice business if they continued to use unethical tactics.

That being said how do you make money in a business like GDI? Well their compensation plan is one of the easiest in the industry to understand. Theirs no fancy matrix lay out or bianry plan, just plain and simple. You purchase a domain extension and hosting service for $10 a month to run your lead capture pages that the company provides. You than promote these pages on the internet and you get paid 10% monthly of each and every customer you refer 5 levels deep. Heres an example You refer 5 people to the GDI product/program. That pays you $5 per month. No big deal? Hang on, you'll see the power of this. Each of those 5 people then refer 5 of their own, so you're now getting paid an additional $25 per month on your "second level". Each of those 25 can refer as many as they want, but for consistency we'll say that they too refer 5 each. That's $125 in monthly commissions on your 3rd level. If the trend continues, you'll have $625 in monthly commissions on your 4th level, and $3,125 in monthly commissions on your 5th level. That's a total of over $3,900 in monthly commissions for referring 5 people, and then teaching those people how to do the same and assisting them in growing their own organizations. Keep in mind that nobody is limited in how many people they can refer. Now does this happen with every body?

Of course not but the option is their. If you do the work they cannot deny you the money and that’s what counts. They have also incorporated an extra bonus into the equation. For every 5 people you personally refer in one week they pay out an extra $100 and there is no limit to this. That means if you were to personally refer 20 people in a week you would be paid an extra $400 on top of your level commissions. With an opportunity that offers a FREE 7 day trial with a measly $10 a month service and allows you to be part of their amazing compensation plan I just can’t see where you could go wrong.
