What is New in The Garmin Nuvi 3790T GPS
The Garmin Nuvi 3790T GPS (Global Positioning System) is the latest engineering effort from one of the pioneering companies in the industry. Garmin has continued to update and expand from a technology perspective as well as design in the Nuvi 3790T. Actually, we think they were just a little behind with their move toward the "ultra-thin" look that has appeared in so many hand-held electronic devices. But no matter, it is a good move for Garmin because that is what consumers want. So we are always asking ourselves how much better can bells and whistles get because they do always seem to be improving.
One feature that does capture attention is the new touchscreen, capacitive glass variety, and you can use pinching action for zooming in either direction. If you have an Android or iPhone, then you may notice the Nuvi 3790T multi-touch function is not quite as advanced as your phone. By that we mean the effect does not seem to be as completely smooth and seamless; however, it does not detract from the manner of operation or effect. One slight drawback is the absence of light sensors for adjustments to ambient lighting conditions. On the other hand that is aptly compensated for by the very high quality of the screen display. When space is a prime consideration, then sometimes you have to make concessions in other areas. We are not at all sure if this was the case with the Nuvi 3790T, but it is always a possibility. For example, this unit does not perform quite as fast as other Garmin GPS units. Specifically, signal capture times seemed just a little bit slower than other units from the company. We do understand there could have been other external factors at play. But it is not like it was tested only one time and at one location. One other consideration worth noting is the route algorithm did seem to be taking cues from primary travel routes and not necessarily local, secondary routes. The effect was to add more time since that is often the case when driving by using main roads, only.
Since there is such a wide variety of features we can't give details on all of them simply because there are just too many. If you ever need to make any kind of calculated conversion, it has a variety of software to do so.
If you are traveling around the country and run out of ideas of what to see, you can download pictures from Garmin Connect and then just navigate to whatever the picture shows. Not everyone will find that feature appealing, but others may find it very helpful for their needs. Garmin Garage for downloading customized security features and Garmin Lock, an anti-theft device are a couple of more features that are offered. Because of its updated ergonomics, its features and the excellent it provides, its hard not to enjoy the Garmin Nuvi 3790T GPS. Garmin could find itself acquiring more of the female GPS user population market with its new low profile design. Because of its compact and easy to carry size, we know that men will appreciate it as well.
