How To Know If You Should Move
Many people move for a variety of different reasons. Sometimes, it is an exciting experience and they cannot wait to start their new life. Other times they are attached to their older home and they have little desire to leave. Even if they want to leave, it might still be a tough decision to make. Those using a moving company often struggle with their decision long before making an appointment and scheduling a move. There are a few surefire ways to know the time is right for a move. Even if you are still affected emotionally by the move or you feel anxiety over the process, you can rest assured you are making the right decision if you are in these circumstances.
You are relocating to a new job and a commute from your current home is out of the question. If you are accepting a new job after months of unemployment or you have been offered your dream job, you are likely thrilled with your new opportunity. However, your spirits might be dampened a bit if it means living in a different location. Whether you have found a new job a few hours from your current home or on the other side of the country, commuting is no longer an option for you. If the job truly is what you want to do, moving to a new home is worth it.
You cannot stand your neighborhood. It is unfortunate, but neighborhoods change and it is often not for the better. Even when a neighborhood stays the same, you might change. If you moved into a place in your early 20s when your priorities were socializing and partying, it might not be the right area for you once you are older and have a family. Likewise, some neighborhoods change as owners sell to people who plan to rent out to other families and not live in the area. If you are beginning to feel uncomfortable in your own home, it might be time to go.
Your house is way too small. As your family grows and your collections of belongings grow, you might find you no longer have the space to live comfortably. You could pair down (on belongings, not on family members), but you still might not feel you have the right amount of space. Upgrading to a larger home is one of the best reasons for moving. It means you are achieving your dreams and you are going to be able to provide your family with a comfortable space.
You want to move closer to friends or family. Living away from your childhood hometown might be a rite of passage. Many people move away for college or to be with their spouses. However, there might come a time when you want to return back home. It might be to care for an aging relative or it could be you are homesick. If you feel a pull to return to a location, it is likely time for you to relocate.
